Christophe wrote:Nice idea but I don't have a battery-powered angle grinder...and I'm not sure that the motors (and the rest) of the grinders are made to work as intensively as a chainsaw...
There is also safety to take into account...no clutch, chain brake or stopping "by hand"...
In the end it's not so nice... So you buy and tell us? : Mrgreen:
I bought the same one in 08/22 for more money, at €24.
The retaining ring does not fit all grinders.
The front metal protection is tin can foil (=0)
You need fine oil (like that from Lidl Electric). I made a mixture to dilute standard chainsaw oil, it doesn't flow as it should, but in the end the brush is practical.
The plastic casing is very dangerous, because the chain relaxes the plastic near the finger, releases it. The glove
thick avoids the worst at the time.

The torque problem also intrigues me...a chain creates a lot more than grinding!

But a grinder spins faster. At home, it's a wire grinder so 500 to 600W so it's 11 to 12000rpm
It's too much and dangerous, you need a speed variator. I bought some that I put at 3/5 and it's good.
Finally, as I have low-cost tools without a variator so as not to have to change machines, I have an interchangeable extension, with the variator and the 2 sockets at the end

Without chain oil on a thermal you shoot the guide and the chain in 30 minutes.... So... We must not have the same powers at work... But hey... If you are happy with your machines and that they do the job... It's cool...

The mini chains heat up very little... (less than the engine) already mentioned above, a blast of wd40 every 10 minutes...

At the same time they also work less hard, less quickly and for less time than a thermal...

Even if it is much more expensive, personally I invested in a Stihl MSA220, it allows you to work seriously.
In the event of a problem (this has never happened to me) there is real after-sales service, and spare parts are available.
Same thing for the “consumable” (chain and guide).
Your playskool stuff is really for Parisian gardens (and again...)

Christophe wrote:It's spring, I had pruning work to do in addition to a fairly large and laborious firewood project: a plot of old Christmas trees to cut down and limb...(see below)

To make it easier to delimb the fir trees (a horror), I bought 2 mini electric chainsaws (€50 each) on Amazon...

Have you discovered a vocation as a lumberjack outside of your property? Your beavers will blame you!

You should try it, you'll be surprised...it does the job...when it works! : Cheesy:

Wait for the rest...it will increase in power and quality!

With everything cut, have you touched (sharpening or changing) the 6" chain?
