the 2 acolytes like to climb the towers ...

in the meantime, the topic is interesting in turn with the ZIMOV family project.

the GHGs contained in permafrosts are gigantic, we are talking about 1600 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent ...

our huge annual emissions are only around 40 GT

and it has already started to degas ...

I don't know if ZIMOV has a "real solution", but his concerns are very legitimate and his experiences are quite respectable.

The "Mammoth" is just an anecdote in this endeavor.

There's that - by researchers from the Federal Polytechnic School (Lausanne / Zürich) - so like Solar Impulse, it works:

yes I had seen some videos on CO2 capture processes like that.

it seems to mobilize a lot of resources and energy. No precise idea on the "CO2 balance" of these CO2 pumps ...

It seems a very Shaddockian project ... : roll:

To come back to the woolly mammoth, which for the moment is only a thought experiment, Zimov seems to forget that the real ones were eradicated by more humid colds (climate change) and therefore a snow cover which prevented them from accessing food. The other critters considered (apart from the reindeer, perhaps) are hardly more adapted to this factor, even if they can withstand the cold ...

The common point of all these approaches is to focus on a very specific consequence, CO2, instead of considering all the consequences: it is that at no time is there any question of attacking the causes. ..
