Genome editing: so contested but so promising

by izentrop » 14/12/22, 01:52

Europe is missing this technological shift, which is nevertheless necessary to support global warming, for fear of the reaction of ecological terrorists...
And yet she saves lives and will save some...
A story of science, cutting-edge technology and hope, set in the UK. A 13-year-old child suffering from incurable leukemia has benefited from an experimental treatment. A month later she was considered cured.

Her name is Alyssa, she suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer, unfortunately one of the most common in children. All treatments had failed but Alyssa received experimental therapy in May at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. A world first. A month after the treatment, no more cancer cells were detected in his body.

It is not only this kind of action that makes it possible to avoid, or even eliminate, this kind of "cancer". The difference comes from the fact that this kind of therapy is limited to a few individuals, while acting otherwise is allowed to everyone!

It is not only this type of action that makes it possible to avoid, or even eliminate this kind of “cancer”. The difference comes from the fact that this type of therapy is limited to a few individuals, while acting otherwise is permitted to everyone!

Since then, more and more, the State has reminded us that 40/50% of cancers could be avoided by changing the way of "life" or rather death; alcohol, tobacco, drugs of all kinds, meats. Certainly saving lives occasionally is important, but avoiding putting them in danger, on a larger scale, is much more effective.
Certainly we have known for centuries, even millennia, that these products destroy health, what is new is to quantify it with regard to cancer specifically, even though it is also valid for all other pathologies. including cardiovascular diseases, the second cause of mortality... without tinkering with the genome.
