We cannot consider the earth as the "cocoon of humanity" *, it is the cocoon of all known forms of life, and we have not finished discovering it!
This story of sf is reminiscent of that of Noah's ark, except that instead of boarding animals we would be content with plans to make them ...

* In the direction of the cocoon that is thrown away after use.

You never asked yourself why we should preserve our biosphere.

For the good reason that the answer is obvious!

Steph, you mix a lot. Overcrowding is only relative and the surpluses of certain poor countries weigh little on world consumption, given its highly unequal structure.
The considerable increase in the production of goods does not imply the capacities that you suggest, moreover it is not a linear reality and nothing guarantees the sustainability of the phenomenon; you indulge in pure seculations.
You argue about the simplicity of a biotope in a spatial situation: besides that this seems to me an unfounded presupposition, the interesting characteristic of a terrestrial biotope (I prefer ecosystem) is precisely the complexity which makes its resilience.

The big boss of American intelligence was the first to sound the alarm in February 2016. In a declassified report by the CIA, James Clapper classified CRISPR Cas9 in the category of " potential weapons of mass destruction. For him, this technology used in thousands of laboratories must be considered as the North Korean nuclear program, the Syrian chemical weapons and the Russian cruise missiles!

The gears of technology... how to prevent terrorist groups from using this technology?
The biological weapon is the greatest threat to humanity, far ahead of the nuclear risk.

After DNA by CRISPR-Cas9, we know how to modify RNA thanks to CRISPR-Cas13

After DNA with CRISPR-Cas9, it is RNA that researchers can modify in a specific way thanks to a molecular tool based on the enzyme CRISPR-Cas13. This is the subject of a brand new publication from MIT and the Broad Institute published Wednesday October 25, 2017.

We already knew how to modify DNA in a targeted way, we now know how to modify its direct product: RNA. The Broad Institute and MIT scientists from Feng Zheng's team have indeed designed a new molecular system to modify RNA in human cells without affecting DNA. Editing RNA, which can modify gene products without changing the genome, has great potential for research and clinical use.

Nor should we make it into a psychosis that would prevent scientists from doing their job serenely.

Criticism of the use of this technology comes from the scientific world ...
As a reminder, science is the study of reality, except CRISPR CAS 9 belongs more to the world of engineering and very lucrative applications $$$

... however, the idea of a moratorium is not well received in the scientific community. Cécile Martinat, research director at the ISTEM institute, based at the Génopole d'Evry, sees this as a potential obstacle to her research on genetic diseases:

“From the moment there is a moratorium, we will be very limited, and it will be states that will be in a less restrictive context that will use them. So we will not prevent an international drift of these tools. We have to trust the scientists and stop thinking that we are doing anything ”.

I feel that France and Europe will still miss out on technological advances that others will exploit without hesitation.

The idea of a moratorium is meaningless.
It is already too late in the measure or this tool is already widely distributed, that's it the gear of the technique, once taken in there is no turning back possible.

Whoever, within an emerging technique, manages to derive a harmful, but remunerative use of it, immediately benefits from a competitive advantage and those who had wanted to legislate to avoid this possible drift, disadvantaged; this necessarily leads the latter to renounce this ethical barrier which, in any case, can no longer avoid anything ... We thus observe a sort of Darwinian selection towards the worst.
