Is it possible that the defoamer acts as an electrolyte?

Not understood ??? The gutter is never completely cut ...

Tomorrow it rains I will be able to take the measurements ...

Ok I thought you had cut and reconstituted an elbow ... Okay I say that but .... I have a part of it at home or the descent is in pvc ... And that does not change much ...

My nephew warned me well about chemical roofing moss ... It's m ... plus I collect my rainwater that I use at home so don't touch my moss the traveling mossers ... : Cheesy:

Hello,
No need for runoff for slate and all construction materials to become conductive on the surface, fog is enough.
And you're lucky, by the sea, galvanic corrosion is even faster.
Also with all this mass of metals, all less reactive than zinc, no wonder your gutter serves as a sacrificial anode.

galvanic corrosion (although I frankly doubt that this is it ... it happens when metals are in direct contact and ions circulate in the water) does not explain why the downspouts are puffed and not the gutters.

Interesting this survey!
Worth all episodes of Agata Christie, Colombo and Inspector Derrick : Cheesy:

According to a specialist, the suspect n ° 1 would be the defoamer ... therefore a chemical action. But since there has not been a defoamer used for a long time, either:
- it's a long action that only appears now: there was an invisible internal wear that ended up piercing
- another corrosive product was used for something else, for example, cleaning of the PV ...

If the Anti-Foam is based on chlorine or sodium hypochlorite, it may have remained on the tiles.
A resistance measurement should also be taken on the dry tiles

Yes except that:
- that would surprise me, it has been raining quite a bit to rinse off a possible treatment for all these years ...
- not at all, not even washing up liquid! Niet nada, just rainwater ...

ps: maybe we should look for bird droppings? In this case all the gutters would be attacked ... unless the large glass surface plays a particular role?
