Reason is the madness of the strongest. The reason for the less strong it is madness.

Re: Bucolic walk in the canals of the Poitevin marsh
To be saved, the Marais Poitevin must be reforested
Fabien Paillot 21 Feb 2021 LeParisien
"If we do nothing, the traditional image of the wet marsh, this cathedral of greenery, will disappear", summarizes François Bon, vice-president of the Regional Natural Park (PNR). The Marais Poitevin, the second wetland in France whose current face was shaped 150 years ago, began to moult to resist chalarose, an Asian fungus. Appeared in 2016, this parasite has since inexorably destroyed the ash trees used in the past as firewood and which still make up 98% of the tree structure.
“The ash will remain present but will become a minority. We have selected six more diverse species to avoid any impoverishment of the marsh, such as pedunculate oak, black poplar or country elm, ”explains Jordane Ancelin, landscaper in the PNR. To accelerate this transition, the Heritage Foundation has just granted a budget of 200 euros to the Marais Poitevin. Enough to double the number of plantations, ie 000 trees within 15 years. “We now have the money and the staff to plant these species, particularly in the context of reintegration projects. We still have to convince the inhabitants, ”explains François Bon.
Because the challenge is immense. The “Green Venice” alone has 400 ash trees, 000 different plots and 35 owners “to be mobilized”. “We supply the trees, plant them without cutting other trees - even diseased ones - and provide maintenance for the first year, abounds Jordane Ancelin. The important thing is to move quickly so as not to undergo these upheavals and to recompose a landscape as qualitative as it is today ”.
