Absolutely. I had discussed with a guy from the ONF who had described to me how we carried out reforestation operations....it's not really bucolic:
"It's quite simple and barbaric. You take thousands of scions prepared for this, in the nursery. You equip 10 snowmen with pikes. They roam the surface by planting, for example, every 3 meters, a scion, with the following procedure: prick, it makes a hole, scion, packed in the boot. Next hole. No watering or anything else. The goal is that even if you have 60% loss, you don't care, it effectively reforested the area and you didn't occupy 10 men for 30 days to take care of each tree: it would cost 10 times more!"
Which fast-growing tree species in a garden to have the equivalent of 0.5 to 1 stere of wood per year?

Here I ordered:
a) About twenty Aspen Poplar in roots 60/100 cm in height
b) 5 larger plants in sets 10/12 circumference at 1m (height: 2.5 to 3 m) from Trichobel
Trichobel is a Trichocarpa variety, therefore western poplar: https://www.peupliersdefrance.org/uploa ... obel_1.pdf

PLEASE, Christophe, pronounce well (if necessary, follow with your finger! ): Trichobel (trico-bel, phonetically). This is the new name of Fritzi Pauley, formed from the name of its American creator and the first name of his wife, Fritzi, of German origin...

Don't care a bit about the leaves... It's branches and wood that I want!
Do you have any at home? Do you have pictures?
I'm going to pick up the Aspens this afternoon..

No, I don't have any on hand; I've never been a big fan of the SP126, aka Fritzy Pauley, aka Trichobel (tricho for trichocarpa, bel for Belgian ).
For the branches and the wood, you will still have to go through the leaves!

Ah, but are you more of a wood specialist than I guessed, or are you firing on all cylinders?
Here are the 18 aspen trees are planted... it's going to snow... I don't know if all of them will resume... these are small plants, no need for me to take pictures, I'll take them for you after the breaking in the spring.. .
The 5 sets from Trichobel will be delivered to me at the beginning of next week.

ps: Fritzy was his wife!
Around 1950, Doctor Scott Pauley, an American plant geneticist, spotted a remarkable specimen which he multiplied by cuttings, thus creating a clone which he baptized “Fritzi Pauley” after his wife's name. This clone was then used in poplar cultivation, including in France from 1970.

If you read more carefully, you would know that I produced this capital information a little earlier: that "Fritzi" (Frederika?) was the wife of the professor Pauley...
As far as your aspens are concerned, the fact that the plants are small is a guarantee of good recovery...
