Calculate GHG emission

by Indy » 10/05/21, 21:00

Question that I ask myself, how do they calculate the CO02 emissions during the life of the device
https://www.nouveaux-consos.fr/p/bosch- ... resh?car=1

The device has an annual consumption of 273 kWh
The academ assumes that refrigerators have a lifespan of 10 years which gives 2730 kWh over the lifetime of the appliance.
In France we are around 40g co2 / kWh which gives 2730 * 40/1000 = 109 kilos of CO2 and not 237 kilos.

Did I make a mistake or is there something wrong?

The emissions are worse than that on average: energies-fossil-nuclear / nuclear-and-effect-of-greenhouse-ges-co2-and-EDF-t8139.html

Hello Indy,
Your remark allowed us to identify 1 error in the data which we use to estimate the lifespan of a product (here estimated at 11 years vs an average of 10 years according to Ademe data), thank you very much! And also 1 error on the annual energy consumption which is 238kWh and not 273 (that's a lot for 1 single product, we agree : Oops: )
We actually calculate the emissions of the use phase thanks to the annual energy consumption, but by taking the value of 59,9g CO2 eq. per kWh consumed, which is the 2020 national average according to the ADEME Carbon Base. Thank you again for your comment and see you soon on New-Consos !
