For those who still think that video games have not reached the rank of Major Art:

The 10th precisely: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classific ... vid%C3%A9o

Obviously there are always those resistant to change ...

10th art: video games

In November 2012, the MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art in New York) decided to include 14 video games in its collection of works of art. Likewise, since 2011, the Supreme Court of the United States officially recognizes video games as an art. In France, it is since 2006 that the Ministry of Culture recognizes video games as a form of artistic expression and requests that it be considered as such. Today, the question of considering video games as an art still arises and many are opposed to it, yet video games are now legally and officially considered as an art.

The designation "10th art" has also been claimed for digital arts in general: computer graphics, web design and video games.

Surely everyone knows this awesome Desmond track played by Dave Brubeck's band Take Five. I ran into him by chance on youtube, and since I had never seen the video, I watched, but that's not the discovery. See below

because Youtube did a second track from the same group, 'Golden Brown ". I immediately recognized this great success of the Stranglers. But then, surprise, because Brubeck and Take Five, they are the years 50/60, Les Stranglers, the 90s. Could the Stranglers have taken over a creation of the Brubeck Quartet ?!
Oh no. Out of full screen mode, I found the explanations. These two videos are strictly identical, but not the sound. On the second, the musician who uploaded the video has a reconstruction of the Stranglers song by sequencing and electronic arrangements and his own sax recording. It's remarkably well done, amazing how the new soundtrack fits perfectly!

5/4 is a rhythm that is not used much and that I particularly like.
Examples of songs in 5/4 and sometimes 5/8:
https://www.senscritique.com/liste/5_4/75605
The hacker's performance is that he has indeed managed to tackle the Stranglers song which is not * 5/4 with the Paul Desmond song which is.

* the regular rhythm of this dance music (the waltz, ndr) is replaced here by an alternation of measures on the intro and the bridge (3 measures in 3/4 followed by a measure in 4/4) while the verses respect 3/4

Champagne! One less proselyte Scientologist ... : Mrgreen:
Among the titles of the 20 pm JT on TF1 on Saturday evening, there is one that has
hit jazz lovers. A stroke of "madness" from the American pianist
Chick Corea during the Jazz sous les pommiers festival in Coutances in the
Handle. "We had a very good concert," says an admirer. But one
discomfort arose when, during the intermission, the artist distributed
leaflets extolling the merits of the Church of Scientology.

Portsmouth Sinfonia was an orchestra founded in 1970 by students from the Portsmouth School of Art (Portsmouth, England) and one of their teachers, composer Gavin Bryars.

It had the particularity of bringing together non-musicians and musicians playing an instrument that was entirely new to them. The orchestra was originally created for a unique performance to be taken in the second degree, but met with unexpected success, and continued concerts and albums until their last public performance in 1979 .....
Besides Gavin Bryars, several famous musicians have played in the orchestra: Brian Eno, Steve Beresford, Brian Reffin Smith, Michael Nyman in particular.

Life is not just tomatoes! Obviously we shared the same passions for exceptional musicians from the late 70's and over!
Chick Corea was one of these and he revealed lots of sublime musicians in his different formations.
RIP, Chick, your possible mistakes do not change the exceptional pianist and composer that you were.
