Wind farm: a page is turning in Port-La Nouvelle

November 21 2020

After more than 26 years of good and loyal service, the three generators of the oldest wind farm in France, located in Port-La Nouvelle, were dismantled by Engie Green at the end of October.

This emblematic park consisted of five machines, including the first wind turbine in France (0,2 MW), connected to the national electricity grid in 1991.

Engie Green is also planning to dismantle the 10 machines from the Sigean wind farm (commissioned in 2000), located nearby. A total of 15 machines will be dismantled in this way, while a renewal project plans to install 10 wind turbines of 3 MW unit on the territory of the municipality of Sigean. The performance of the future fleet will thus be significantly improved, going from 8,8 to 30 MW, or more than 30 people supplied with green electricity, compared to less than 000 to date.

The project will benefit from the knowledge accumulated throughout the operating life of the dismantled parks as well as recent environmental data and will be located on a line that respects bird migration corridors!

The L-shaped park, which totaled fifteen wind turbines (the five on Port-La Nouvelle, dismantled and the 10 on Sigean), will only have ten, all aligned. These are twenty-five years of experience feedback thus leveraged for a design and a much better implementation than before.

Engie Green's teams are also mobilized on the pilot floating wind farm project, with three wind turbines off Leucate-Le Barcarès, for which the assembly phase on the floats will take place in Port-La Nouvelle.

These three wind turbines, which should be commissioned by 2022, will be installed 16 km offshore and will supply the equivalent of 50 inhabitants with green energy. To be continued ...

The wind farm in France passes the 17 GW installed bar.

Le wind farm reached 17 MW at September 243, 30 with 2020 MW connected during the last quarter, which makes it possible to pass the 17 GW installed. Over one year, growth amounts to 1 MW. At the end of 303, the PPE is targeting a 2023 MW wind farm for the onshore wind sector. The achievement rate for this target is currently 24%.

Electricity production from wind power stood at 6,3 TWh over the past quarter, up 5% compared to the third quarter of 2019 due to the growth of the connected fleet. The rate of coverage of consumption by wind energy thus amounts to 6,5% (8,7% over the last twelve months).

no it is the state which stores free of charge for millions of years the waste produced in a few decades at the expense of future generations.

Seoul to build world's largest offshore wind farm

AFP published on 05 Feb 2021

South Korean authorities on Friday signed a € 36 billion contract to build what Seoul is touting as the world's largest offshore wind farm.

Poor in traditional energy resources, South Korea has set itself the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. It currently depends heavily on its imports of coal, which provide 40% of its electricity.

In addition to the goal of carbon neutrality, the center-left president Moon Jae-in intends to phase out nuclear power, which leaves no other choice but to rely heavily on wind, hydroelectric and solar power.

The head of state oversaw the signing of a massive 48 trillion won (000 billion euros) contract to build a gigantic wind farm off Sinan in the southwest, which the maximum capacity will be 36 gigawatts. It will be seven times the size of today's largest offshore wind farm, according to Moon.

Mr. Moon highlighted the unique geographical position of the peninsula. “We have endless potential for offshore wind power on three sides and we have the best technology in the world in this area,” he said.

The agreement involves 33 different entities, including regional governments, the electricity company Kepco, and large private companies like Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction or SK E&S. Mr Moon warned that it might take more than five years before work begins. But he said the government would try to speed things up.

Last year, Seoul announced its goal of entering the world's top 2030 wind energy producing countries by 5. South Korea has 24 nuclear power plants, the highest density in the world. It aims to have only 17 in 2034 and thus to halve its nuclear energy production.

New possible nuisance from wind turbines to animals:
https://www.sciencesetavenir.fr/nature- ... arc_151754

It would only be one more nuisance. We already had: soil pollution, landscape pollution, non-recyclable, unmountable or overpriced blades to dismantle when we no longer need them (which is already the case), expensive, irregular and very low production at night. ..
