news published in Le Monde, a company is launching a micro-battery based on paper, and very little polluting ...
the "almost green" of the title of the subject, it is because it remains a battery, therefore disposable ...
it remains only to hope that they find a way to make batteries with the same technology

Very interesting, on the other hand, it must still be largely at the prototype stage because according to this, the production volumes are low:
"The price of the battery is 1 euro if 10 units are produced"
For those who want to know more, here is the website of the start-up http://www.enfucell.com/
In particular the .pdf: http://www.enfucell.com/SoftBatterySheet.pdf
Funny the energy density is given in Ah per unit of surface and no longer of volume as usual ... however the thickness is not zero ...

Out of curiosity I calculated the energy intensity of a "classic" battery and of this one:
1) AA battery (or LR06) capacity: 2500 mAh (capacity of the best batteries, I did not find the exact capacity of an alkaline ... if kk1 has an idea?)
L = 50mm Diam = 14,2
Density = 315 mAh / cm3
2) Enfucell battery
Capacity: 3mAh / cm2
Thickness from 0,3 to 0,7 mm i.e. 0,03 to 0,07 cm
Or a density varying from 42,8 to 100 mAh / cm3
Almost a factor of 3 (at best) compared to conventional batteries ...

indeed, it is not yet very good from the point of view of "volume capacity" but what about the specific capacity? It can undoubtedly be better in this case. this is what is interesting, both for future electric propulsion and for portable applications.
I think that paper covered with various oxides is lighter than metal sheets in a metal case ...

Benvi but we have no idea of the mass ... well it is not indicated on the .pdf ...
Finally personal if the environmental impact is zero it does not bother me to use batteries that are 1/3 less efficient ... but if they are also 3 times more expensive it will start to be heavy ...
