Actual consumption of a modern truck

Transport and new transport: energy, pollution, engine innovations, concept car, hybrid vehicles, prototypes, pollution control, emission standards, tax. not individual transport modes: transport, organization, carsharing or carpooling. Transport without or with less oil.

indeed, a truck could load several EVs under its tarpaulin without consuming much more.

Just sticking to the back of a truck significantly increases the range (but beware, it is prohibited !!)

Loading cars on trucks is a big bin to bring them together, and another big bin to bring them down to different places. it has already been attempted with piggybacking, and it is not easy.

Of course ... It was about the valve.

Rigorously infeasible in a just-in-time world, where the drivers have drastic deadlines, and the undertaking of "profitability", competition, etc ...

There are two ways of looking at "movements" (of people and things):

a) "bush taxi" way in Africa: we wait ... We discuss the price. And we wait ... When is it when? When it's full !!! So we optimize the fuel (rare and expensive) at the expense of time (which "costs" nothing) ...

b) "just in time with us" way: it is time that counts; the fuel is not worth enough expensive, so we do not count ... The truck comes back empty because already another cargo is waiting in A, while the truck is in B ... No time to wait for it there is something to transport from C (near B) to D (near A) ...

Note, curiously enough, that energy and time are contradictory: when we want to save time, we waste more energy; when you gain energy, you have to waste your time ... [it's already true, within certain limits of course, for road speed]

Who is right ??? It depends on what we watch! Efficiency in the sense of maximizing the GDP (because the empty return counts in the GDP: fuel, wages, etc.!)? Or energy efficiency and minimization of the environmental impact? Our companies have chosen !!! Even if they delude themselves by running after false solutions: electricity (as if it were unlimited and free energy) [I did not say that it was not progress!]

Did, you write:
Note, curiously enough, that energy and time are mutually exclusive: when we want to save time, we waste more energy; when you gain energy, you have to waste your time ...

Except that time is always lost! 8) But if this expression has nevertheless imposed itself, it is because in reality it means "time lost for the production of abstract value". Or, which amounts to the same thing, for the dissipation of energy (which you rightly point out).
