Reintroduction of common animals in our countryside

by Adrien (ex-nico239) » 24/11/18, 14:30

This subject comes from the fact that we were surprised news disseminated a few months ago about the disappearance of the common fauna in our beautiful country.

So we naively said, well since it disappears as much reintroduce and if we can bring our stone to the building in a quiet and preserved banco.

Recently we started sending emails here and there to assos including turtles and hedgehogs, waiting for the birds ...

Ouh la la retour de baton .... it is not a good attempt to interfere in the meadow of ÉLUS animal protection in our beautiful country ...

Crime of lèse majesté Image

Example of our mail
Hello,

We would be very willing to adopt hedgehogs.

Attention to the term adopt ..... NOT LIKE PETS ...

But to REINTRODUIRE IN FULL NATURE.

We live in the 04

The answer

I'm afraid there was misunderstanding about the goals of our health center. Our sole purpose is to recover animals in distress in nature, to treat them, and to release them as quickly as possible in their natural environment. To do this, we obtained a Prefectural Opening Permit and the head of the health center has passed Certificates of Capacity for all the species he hosts at the center.

Be aware that without all these authorizations, the capture, possession, transport ... etc of wild animals is prohibited by law. They are said to be "Res Nullius" ie they do not belong to anyone.
We do not wish to "jealously keep our specimens" as you say, on the contrary we want to release them as quickly as possible and in the best conditions for them, in any case we do not deliver individuals so that they keep the animals at home, this which is illegal as I explained to you above. For this reason, it is normal that the other centers also answered you in the negative.

The MEGA a priori that we would like NAC hedgehogs so clogs the reader that he does not even consider our message ...
It prejudges that the others would have answered us no which is not true.
After part of the answer is totally sensible in terms of respect for the wild animal, RAS on it.
For the rest we remain adorned in a surprising legalism in the way it is brandished for (it seems) trying to discourage goodwill that is not part of the circle of "Elected" : Mrgreen:

Another even more curious example of tortoises

The situation is complex because the turtles that the public wants to abandon are in the vast majority of cases turtles without legal origin (found, data ...) so we can not direct them to other individuals who must also have permissions detention conditions. The only solution is to accept them on the park, carry out the sanitary manipulations (vermifugation, quarantine ...) make the steps to regularize them (very time-consuming administrative procedures), to mark them and then to have them adopted by people or structures in rules. To date we unfortunately do not have the funds and the teams necessary for this last step.

It is therefore necessary that we increase the number of our visitors in order to develop our means.

The contradiction of the message is surprising.
We have the impression in reality that they do not move too much to part with them while they constitute their business

That said, we must modulate with very restrictive legislation

It seems very difficult! There is a Hermann National Turtle Action Plan which can be viewed on the administration website. It is only the actors of this plan who can carry out this type of program. We are part of it and I can tell you it's complicated! The reality is that reintroduction is hampered or blocked in the high place because it creates areas unbuildable and / or with limited activity, which does not help farmers, builders and municipalities ...

Except that by not doing the impossible to reintroduced with big broth the turtles one makes the clear place for the promoters since the animals remain finally in "zoos" which arranges ... the zoos and the promoters and agris and in the end everyone is happy ... on the backs of turtles. Image

A center answered in the affirmative for the reintroduction of hedgehogs ... by sending us back to spring.
To follow then

Curiously though, we had to answer a questionnaire that asked us if we had Owls Grand Dukes and Badgers in the corner ...
Image our answer was: for the sake of bio diversity we hope we have ....

Curious question that formulated differently sounds like: if the fauna is rich by your home (among other predators) no question of releasing hedgehogs ... uh it's not a bit specious it Image not to say absurd in any case paradoxical.

In short we are probably a bit caricatural and we must probably be wary of crooks who could trade hedgehogs or eat them like gypsies : Shock:

However we say that with operations of this style we understand that the common wildlife disappears ...

It seems that between the laws and the professionals of the help to animals has created a kind of fabric of convergent interests ...

We could say the same for the animal shelters (cat-dogs) and who make you pay a cat 150 € (have drunk) ...

And here we are well placed to talk about having worked for an association of cats for years ...
Ah, but it's true in this asso we were ALL VOLUNTEERS at 100% (it's not the vocation of an asso ???), we took turns to go to feed cats every day of the year .

And as soon as someone wanted to adopt one
And of 1 it was FREE (whereas there if you say that you have not the under one you hang up in the nose)
And from 2 we were going to take home to him what was the best way to CHECK on the spot the future living conditions of the animal.

To compare with "for 150 €" you can leave with the cat

Okay, we did that there is a 20aine of years ... other time other morals ...

Animals seem to have become a business even among those who claim to be their closest supporters

Again this reaction is probably exaggerated and Manichean (and to say it is hoped sometimes wrong) but it emanates from a punctual bowl on the subject : Mrgreen:

Hello,

It's nice to think about reintroducing species that have disappeared locally, but it's a waste of time if we do not remedy the causes of their disappearance ...

I'm afraid we do not interest them ... we pact with men : Mrgreen: leaving a small piece of our land to the neighbor's cows ... a crime of lèse majesté.

In addition we can not donate and we do not have 60ha: we only lend to the rich is well known.

However, I have written to them and will retransmit the answer.

Biodiversity too, can destabilize ecosystems. Like what in ecology as elsewhere, certainties are always to be replaced by a reasonable doubt.

"The fact that the different components of stability react differently must be taken into account in the management of ecosystems. Depending on the weight given to each of them, the relationship between diversity and overall stability of the ecosystem may be non-linear."

Some hedgehogs are not going to upset the ecosystem of the Alpes de Haute Provence I think ... Image
