I saw a recent article that Audi would prepare an energy recovery suspension. Called "e-rots", these would be rotary jacks.

What is interesting is that they give the orders of magnitude of the recoverable powers ... we are in the sixteenth ...

100W on a slightly uneven road, the maximum would be 600W on a very bumpy road ... and 3W (!!) on a "smooth" highway.

Be aware that a cruising car (90-100 km / h) consumes 10 000 to 20 000 W. I let you calculate the possible gain. : Mrgreen:

Soon, with this combined system with motor-wheel motorized and will simply absorb any vehicle chassis!

There is a problem of principle: the axis cannot be in the center of the wheel because of the bending of the "soft spokes". These must therefore be in periodic deformation at each turn of the wheel, even on flat surfaces. It is not very satisfactory.
On the other hand an active system would solve this problem, and it can be with little loss in an electric vehicle (conversion of the mechanical energy in electrical energy, and reinjection in the battery, possibly for a better performance via a super capacitor in buffer with drums).

I only see one problem: deformations -> heating -> loss of energy
If not, how important is the axis in the center or not?
