10 benefits (hidden?) The city by bike

by Christophe » 08/04/14, 12:27

Some arguments to practice more cycling in town:

If you are considering replacing your car with a bicycle, then it is important to know the impact of this decision. Below are 10 side effects of cycling that your bicycle seller will not tell you.

1. Weight loss. If you're trying to be fat, biking isn't right for you. Cycling is known to eliminate calories from fat stores in the body.

2. Slowing of breathing. People who use the bike regularly need more time between breaths, whether when they are cycling or when they are resting.

3. Reduction of stress and aggressiveness. People who cycle to work are less likely to be aggressive, which can be a problem for survival in today's world.

4. Punctuality. The ability to navigate city traffic, taking shortcuts to places where cars cannot pass, while avoiding rush hour traffic jams, often leaves cyclists in trouble when they have to wait for traffic. arrival of their colleagues.

5. Mental stimulation without caffeine. Those who regularly use the bicycle have the natural feeling of being alert and well awake, and therefore cannot justify the coffee break in the early morning.

6. Feeling of invincibility. People who are their own means of transportation often have the dangerous impression that they can achieve anything.

7. Cycling can lead to other activities. Riding a bike encourages curiosity, exploration, and can even cause dependence on the desire to discover the world.

8. Extreme joy. Regular cyclists have a hard time understanding the anger of motorists, and therefore stay away from the popular pastime of grumbling about traffic. Too frequent smiles can cause expression lines on the face.

9. Loss of sensation. Regular cycling makes you insensitive to cold, rain, bad weather and even heat.

10. Bad for economic growth. Cycling reduces the profits of oil companies and car manufacturers while limiting pollution and public health problems. However, pollution (and the depollution that goes with it) and public health problems (including road accidents) contribute to GDP growth.

Hello,

After 2 years of electric bike (3000km) of home-work journey, I confirm the following points:
1. Weight loss (stabilization of the weight at -2kg of my usual weight in winter. Electric assistance makes less weight loss)
3. Reduction of stress and aggressiveness (especially in the evening when you return home, you are very calm and have cleared your head of professional worries)
5. Mental stimulation without caffeine (especially the freshness of the morning and the little exercise that woke me up fully before arriving at work)
7. Cycling can lead to other activities (EV tiring less than normal cycling, especially on hills, I could easily do sports at noon)
8. An extreme joy (the joy of being in the open air and not locked in a 4-wheel "box")
9. Loss of sensation (more resistant to colds)
10. Bad for economic growth (less pumping, full lasting more than a month, ...)

Advantage I found at VE:
- Higher average speed (I am not a big sportsman), which appreciable on 22km daily
- Less waste of time (no need to shower when arriving at work which is at the top of a big climb, or in the evening when returning)
- Less detergents and showers, because less perspiration, so can be a little greener (to see with the specialists)
- Ease of shopping (a backpack full of groceries and bearable thanks to electric assistance)
- Less physical fatigue, which is nice not to be too tired on Friday evening.

I'll tell you that in a while .. I just bought an old pedelec with which I plan to make the auto taff ride.
Combined transport: 15km of electric car, 10km of VAE in the morning
10km of VAE and 15km of nuclear saxophone in the evening..3 days a week.
I know, the 25km could be pretty easy for most pedal aces with a VAE ...
But personally it would really make my transport time too long ...
The 10 km in question are those which are the most congested by car but the least dangerous (since track fitted out for very slow vehicle) the first 15 are in the countryside and which is more fairly hilly ... I wish to arrive at my taff in the morning presentable and not too fragrant ...

To say that the bike increases mental stimulation ... Bof ... Listen to the interview of athletes after a performance ... In general it does not fly very high ...

Why not take a foldable bike to combine cycling and public transportation

eg the very space-saving Brompton

If you want to use public transport more velo in my case it will be necessary that I take off from my home at 6:10 am to be at work at 8:10 am ... (and I have to start at 8h) .. I do not even speak of the return of the evening..Moreover on my line the locos are diesel..My sax is electric ... and even if it is not super reliable ... I am more punctual than one of my colleagues who comes by train + bike ...
