carbon positive for pure vegetable oils: study

by Christophe » 03/05/12, 17:15

March 2012 report on the eco-carbon balance of pure vegetable oils in the short supply chain:

The production of pure vegetable oils (HVP) in short circuits shows better results in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than other biofuels. This is indicated by a study disseminated by the French Institute of HVP on the emission of GHGs when using HVPs, but also, upstream, during their production.

The results show that “the production of pure vegetable oil (rapeseed or sunflower) and oil cakes for livestock feed, in the context of short-chain production, makes it possible to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the framework for operating in reasoned agriculture, in simplified cultivation techniques or in direct sowing under permanent plant cover in relation to the use of diesel, "says the report.
