NEW: Renault commits to biofuels

Renault: a first step towards the generalization of biofuels
Attendance at the 2006 International Agricultural Show ...

As part of the 2006 International Agricultural Show (from 25 February to 5 March 2006), Renault will exhibit its "Flex Fuel" engine technology running on fuel that may contain a mixed blend of gasoline or ethanol (from 0 to 100%). On this occasion, Renault will exhibit the Clio 1,6 liter 16v Hi-Flex already marketed in Brazil.

The automaker recalls having made environmental commitments under the "Renault Contract 2009" plan, including the adaptation of its engines to the use of biofuels. In 2009, 50% of gasoline-powered vehicles offered for sale in Europe will be able to operate with a mixture of gasoline and ethanol up to 85%. All diesel engines in the range will be able to operate at the same time with a rate of 30% diester.

It should be noted that for Renault it is not an innovation: in Brazil it has been several years since they sell cars equipped with flex-fuel engines that know exactly how much ethanol in gasoline or diester in the diesel to run the engine in the best conditions (seen news reporting TV news there are qques months or years?).

I quote https://www.econologie.com/bioethanol-te ... s-563.html :

"Renault is the fourth car manufacturer to have attempted the flex fuel adventure, a less polluting technology, to equip its models after Wolkswagen (in March 2003), General Motors (June 2003) and Fiat this year."

But which manufacturer then fitted the flex vehicles of the 80 years?

"This is still very little compared to the 1980s when 90% of cars produced in Brazil ran on alcohol. But at the time, producers preferred to use sugar cane for the production of sugar for export, causing a supply crisis. "

For the report of FR2 it is the: https://www.econologie.com/bioethanol-su ... -2253.html

This is good news, but now you have to:

1 - That France accepts that we can put up to 100% ethanol instead of gasoline, and ditto for diester (idem HVB?) Instead of diesel fuel in the tanks of these vehicles .

2 - Let's find, as in Brazil, organic fuels in resorts! and not just gasoline or gas oil with a low level of "bio fuel". That's the problem ... and yet they do it in Sweden, why not us?

Hello,
it's an announcement effect.
Who would cut the branch of the tree ...
This is the problem of biofuel, from the short chain, there is no control over taxes.
First, there must be political will.

The builders do not stop these effects right now. We hear about full of clean diesel (what about PM25?) And power up ...

If farmers started blocking roads and refineries so that the government could change its focus on HBV by allowing them to produce energy, we might have a quicker reaction.

In any case, given the information given on the HBV and the increase of surfing on the internet, no doubt that today, if refineries were again blocked, we would see a lot of car feel the fries ...

Farmers do not want a short supply chain. The diester industry is very widely supported. I have discussed with the producer group, the purchase price by the oil companies are well above the price "market".
This is how we are kept by the people.
