I revive the subject ... then in small gasoline for short trips (and occasionally (like 4 to 5 times a month) long trips> 150 km and that we can maintain / repair yourself, you advise what at this time ?
Are there essences that rotate around 5l / 100? From memory I had a fiat UNO of 89 which had to be 5,5L / 100 on the road but hey it was a bit small and rudimentary.
I await your advice,
Thank you in advance

We have changed era because of anti pollution standards and resistance to accidents, although I manage to make my wife's Twingo make 6,2 liters (soon 17 years old, the car, not messed up) ) but only on long journeys. In winter, short trips, it's more like 8 liters
In 1978, we managed to make 6,5 liters for a Datsun 120 A, 4 people in it and a sailboat in the ass! But, at the time we made light cars and we polluted with NO2!

A friend who lives in the mountains, consumes on average 4.5L / 100 with his AX 1500 diesel which totals 300 km. Only minor incident, a cylinder head gasket at ~ 000 ... but anyway it is rare on diesel that the cylinder head gasket holds the life of the engine ...
The first Twingo of the name, especially the first were not very economical: the engine was very old (1978) and of R4 GTL origin, hence high consumption for modest power.
With my C2 90hp robotic gearbox (stop start, but it only has an influence in town), I make 5.8L at 6L / 100 on average in summer with air conditioning, 6.2L in winter ... My father's 107 petrol + robotised gearbox runs between 5L and 5.5L / 100 ... progress has come through that ...
Low-cost cars have become a rare commodity (all crushed for scrappage) and in any case a diesel with CT ok and at less than € 2000 with less than 200 km is EXTREMELY rare, personal never seen. .

Often the failure is caused by the failure of the calorstat. This piece (at 15 €) frequently drops after 10 years.oiseautempete wrote:A friend who lives in the mountains, consumes on average 4.5L / 100 with his AX 1500 diesel which totals 300 km. Storm bird: be careful not to mix petrol consumption with diesel consumption.

Hello
My girlfriend had a 106 II 1.1i, she consumed 5.5 to 6l / 100 in plain and without being charged. The mechanics were very easy and reliable if maintained. We sold it at 130 km 000 euros in very good condition.
My neighbor bought 500 euros from a granny an ax with the same engine, 90 km maintained in the garage.
At PSA, 106, sax and ax essence are easily found for cheap (just look on the right corner!). I think it is still better to turn to injection engines than to carburation.

I do not confuse anything at all because there is no one in my family who runs on diesel ...: my C2 90cv petrol eats 6L and my father's petrol 107L 5.5L (on average always!), And I would add that its old LNA 652cc was 6L / 100 and that you can't say it existed in diesel
It should be noted that before I teach my wife to ride ahead, she was eating 1L to 1.5L more with the same C2 without going faster ...
