Notice to Bordeaux residents ... who have until the end of August to go and see her:

CONSOM'ATTITUDES: a unique exhibition in France!

ADEME Aquitaine offers to discover a unique exhibition entitled: CONSOM'ATTITUDES.
This exhibition aims to raise awareness about the impact of their lifestyles on the environment and society. Carried out in collaboration with the CAP SCIENCES cultural and scientific center, CONSOM'ATTITUDES is presented in Bordeaux until August 29th.
It has a unique feature: each visitor becomes SciencesOnaute by personalizing their journey using a smart chip over the terminals and questions asked about their consumption habits. CONSOM'ATTITUDES aims to be itinerant. Grenoble has already reserved the exhibition for the end of 2010. Other cities, like Paris, are expected to welcome it soon.

An interactive exhibition for everyone

CONSOM'ATTITUDES is an invitation for everyone “to switch to eco mode! " Designed to appeal to young and old, this exhibition offers a trip to the heart of eco-consumption and eco-design with activities and activities combining real and virtual. During their visit, future eco-citizens are led to question their consumption habits and to see eco-consumption not as a constraint but as a necessity. They are shed light on the life cycles of products, from their design to their potential recyclability.
CONSOM'ATTITUDES is an à la carte exhibition where visitors learn while having fun. There is no age to change your habits, as ingrained as they are. It offers, for example, to those who wish to browse the O2 supermarket in order to design their own eco-basket and know the ecological impact of it. The visitor thus becomes an actor in his own visit.

A unique and innovative digital device

In order to make the exhibition even more interactive, CAP SCIENCES has acquired around five thousand RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) chips called numpass which are distributed at the entrance to the center. Each person is asked throughout the visit to answer questions about their consumption habits. A consumer profile is established at the end of the journey. Such a process has consequent repercussions in the field of research since the answers of each one make it possible to produce statistics and to exploit these data at the national level. Unprecedented in France, this project promises the CONSOM'ATTITUDES exhibition a perennial and nomadic life since it will crisscross the major cities of the country to conquer new eco-consumers.

Eco-consumption, obvious for both partners

The current context illustrates the challenges facing individuals. With pollution, climate change or the depletion of natural resources, everyone has a role to play in order to preserve the planet as a whole.
Human activity has an impact on the environment, habits long taken by man must change and a collective awareness is imminent.
ADEME supports actions allowing everyone to evolve towards more responsible consumption patterns: professional purchases from the public and private sectors, household purchases, product design, labels and environmental displays. This exhibition was requested within the framework of the Grenelle of the environment and the project of environmental display for consumer products.
As for CAP SCIENCES, it is fundamentally committed in terms of eco-consumption since the scientific culture center draws up the carbon footprint of this eco-designed event.

A team of recognized and involved researchers

Twenty-three researchers gathered around this project to bring this event to life. Among them, Dominique Desjeux, professor of social and cultural anthropology in Paris and international consultant on innovations, decisions, consumption and interculturalism. He insists on the fact that "having an exhibition open to consumption has a very strong impact in 2010, and perhaps more today than yesterday to prepare for tomorrow". He is accompanied by several other researchers, sociologists, historians, economists, who work for example at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) or even at the university. Like him, they have deep aspirations in the field of sustainable development. This scientific committee, made up of experts in the field of consumption, made a real contribution to this exhibition since it guided the themes treated.
