Illuminated signs

by netshaman » 21/01/10, 16:32

I've been traveling at night for a while and one thing that struck me was the neon signs that stay on all night.
I find it an unnamed waste of energy!
Indeed what is the point since people at 2:00 am are in bed for the most part, and in addition the stores in question are closed.
It wouldn't occur to me to leave the light on at home when I'm away.
I propose to put a fine on those who leave it on at night to force them to turn off when the premises are closed.
So they will tell me: "yes, but it's so that we know that we are there"
Here I answer, that the people living in the area know the place, and that those who are only passing by at night have other things to do, moreover if even a potential customer would pass by, he would only do it once a day. month can be, in any case the expenditure of energy to win this customer is disproportionate in cost compared to the gain that this customer could bring.
In short, turn off those fucking signs, save this energy, thanks to this, lower the CO2 balance and everyone will be better off!

I heard that there were anti-ensign "commandos" who put them out in town.
all signs have an exterior "switch" that can be operated with a pole.

There had already been regulations in Belgium, but apparently nobody cares.

Indeed, the slogan of the professional association of sign manufacturers is:

"The illuminated sign: your best seller"

and it's true,

even at night, some stores serve as a landmark

I think that we could easily impose, with nuance downtown - great roads.
- store lighting off as soon as it closes
- extinction of the sign at 20 p.m.
- same for shop windows, except town center
- requirement for energy-saving lamps for shop windows (HQI-TS), halogen stop
- tolerance for certain economy signs until 22 p.m.
- restaurant signs stop when they close
- prohibition of ignition before 8 or 9 hours
- control and fines : Mrgreen:

it's crude. We must not reduce the attractiveness of city centers, nor its security (that's good, traders pay instead of the municipality)

Another problem: office lighting: in some boxes it is shameful, as if the brush body was not able to turn the lamps on and off! : Evil:
