I am a welder on Tig and Mig, it is the repeated hot cold shock that cracked your metal, welding it on the crack may be suitable but will not last very long because the metal has undergone multiple micro cracks so it is better to cut a large part and replace it, surely the burner heats this part of the metal.
There is boiler or stove steel which better withstands these constraints.

Ahmed's proposal seems to me just as interesting, insofar as the cracked part, if it was kept, could then serve as a protective screen for the new part (lining) to choose of course in steel ad hoc. In addition, the work to be done would be lighter and less risky. But this is an assumption given that I am neither a heating engineer nor a welder ...
