Four weeks to become an eco-citizen with the ALSH Pasteur

Sunday 02.08.2009, 04:45 - La Voix du Nord
Water, wind, sun, garbage ... the children (and their parents) learned a lot of things in July. Water, wind, sun, waste ... the children (and their parents) have learned a lot of things in July.

Wednesday the ALSH (leisure center without accommodation) Pasteur celebrated the end of four weeks spent discovering eco-citizenship.

July was a month of (re) discovery and application of eco-citizenship for the forty or so children attending the Pasteur leisure center, rue de Babylone. With the help of their animators and the director, Benoît Balloy, they learned about renewable energy during the first fortnight. Manufacture of kites, wind turbines, experiments with photovoltaic cells ... During the second fortnight, it was more a question of recycling in partnership with the MRES (Regional House of the Environment and Solidarity) and sorting. Animators came to the center to raise awareness of sorting with a “waste sorting” activity. The children put their knowledge into practice on outings. The older children (8-12 years old) went camping in Gravelines: the perfect opportunity to fly their kites! Tempo, a service of the Papillons Blancs association, joined them there. The little ones have also discovered the joys of camping, but at the Héron farm. This made it possible to highlight the advantages of solar energy with the photovoltaic panels placed on the roof of the farm. It is also necessary to underline the participation of parents in several outings, not by accompanying but in the same way as the children. An opportunity to relax with the family and share a moment of happiness. On Wednesday, they were also invited to participate in a fair focused on eco-citizenship. Several workshops made it possible to test your knowledge in the field ... and to obtain your eco-citizen diploma. To end the month, everyone gathered at the Maubeuge zoo. Beautiful memories to fuel the rainy days of fall. •
