Frugality as we see it today among many Africans and Indians would, if it were generalized, support more than 10 billion people without major problems.
Conversely, with the american way of life for all (hard to imagine!), 3 billion would probably already be too much.

If the number of earthlings sometimes poses problem, it is only in relation to other considerations, and not in itself.
