Much more efficient (but also complex) than storage by compressed fluid, cryogenic storage is however a little-known solution for the future!
Here are some already "old" (on econo since 2005) articles and information on the subject:
A complete study: https://www.econologie.com/telechargeme ... -comprime/
https://www.econologie.com/stockage-fluide-comprime/
1980s US patent on energy storage by cryogenic fluid:

Also, energy storage by Liquid Piston: https://www.econologie.com/stockage-ene ... n-liquide/
Am back on it after some research on the subject: energies-renewable / the air-compressed-by-piston liquid-vs-batteries-the-lead-t6342.html
cryogenic energy storage, you know?
