No to the electric car, Biogas is the future!

Transport and new transport: energy, pollution, engine innovations, concept car, hybrid vehicles, prototypes, pollution control, emission standards, tax. not individual transport modes: transport, organization, carsharing or carpooling. Transport without or with less oil.

No to the electric car, Biogas is the future!

by GuyGadebois » 24/07/19, 18:10

The electric car is a heresy.
Indeed lithium causes "troubles" (on the ground, in Afghanistan, Chile, Bolivia), trade wars, pollution of rivers, groundwater, waste of water, fossil fuels and Co2 for extraction, cancers that explode in areas of exploitation, destruction of biotopes. And the same goes for cobalt or nickel. The real solution for the energy transition is biogas: it is produced from our organic waste (an infinitely renewable resource: everyone eats, peels and defecates). It would allow producing countries to free themselves from any external dependence, adapts to any gasoline car, with the key: https://www.gaz-mobilite.fr/dossiers/av ... ntaux-gnv/ In addition the price of the car is quite reasonable compared to the electric (even cheaper than some models gasoline or diesel). As a reminder there are 823 000 vehicles running on natural gas in Italy, 100 000 in Germany but 3 500 000 in Iran, 3 000 000 in China ... and hardly 13000 in France, country of Diesel! Wake up and refuse the electric car! Let's also take into account other uses of Biogas: By equipping any new collective building with a Biogas generator, it is possible to heat the buildings for free (once the installation has been depreciated) and to use this gas for cooking. By equipping the animal farms with these same generators, one can heat the installations, the farms. By optimizing the production of Biogas and equipping our incinerators with this technique (requires the sorting of waste), we could drastically reduce the pollution of these structures and turn with the gas produced, generators producing electricity. The carbon footprint is zero because the Co2 emitted by the use of Biogas is equivalent to that produced by our waste if we let them decompose without valuing them! Moreover, by not valuing them, they produce methane which, I remind you, is a greenhouse gas with a warming power 25 times higher than Co2!!!
In short, practically only advantages!

Now it's up to us! https://secure.avaaz.org/fr/community_p ... e/?aslgKbb

Oil consumption in France is turning into 40 Mtep for transport (2012 Insee figures - https://www.insee.fr/fr/statistiques/12 ... re=1288404).
The biogas production is estimated at 4 Mtep in 2030 for France (http://www.panorama-ifpen.fr/biogaz-en- ... spectives/)
Ademe estimates the producible to 4,3 Mtep.

We are far from the account of an 10 factor.

The IEA sees another track with CO2 or carbon and electricity here: http://cedricphilibert.net/power-to-gas-mea-culpa/

This is logical since the sector is not developed.

Reflex condescension, without reflection, is the norm here?

The reflection, and the figures, Enerc you specified above, at least for the case of France.

Now, if you want to roll and warm yourself with the energetic content of your peelings and feces, you are free to try.

The potential is untapped, at best largely underutilized, hence these figures. If you have trouble understanding, think a bit. We are talking about an ecological transition, from which a lot of work remains to be done.
An example: In Germany, the biogas of a large number of livestock farms is used for heating farms and cooking. That's where the subsidies of the CAP go home, whereas at home the Breton farmers used these funds to buy even more pigs ... Look for the mistake. With the mentality of our fellow citizens, your two answers were otherwise expected, at least predictable.

again, no specific technique is THE solution,

I doubt that biogas can meet all the energy demand of transport, but it is ONE solution that can bring its stone to the building.

Thank you for this reasoned and reasonable answer. I remind you that methane, which is a fuel that can not be recovered, is 25 times more greenhouse-generating than Co2, which can not be used.

To visualize the enormous aspect of our oil consumption, 40 Mtep per year is 1500 liters per second in France alone for transport. It is necessary to multiply by 1000 approximately in volume of gas.
The concern of biogas is that its raw material is already under tension because of agricultural practices: we lack organic matter to put in the fields.

Do not confuse NGV and biogas: for example in Iran 100% of NGV comes from oil or gas wells :D

Natural gas is as natural as oil. Except that it is not black, suddenly it looks almost green : Cheesy:
