Only when he has brought down the last tree, the last river contaminated, the last fish caught that man will realize that money is not edible (Indian MOHAWK).

2009 should be the year of new developments in the general public marketing of vehicles with alternative propulsion. After the announcement of the electric car, it is the company MDI founded by Guy Nègre which plans to put on the French market a first model of compressed air car during 2009.

The vehicle, baptized OneCATs, is in the course of homologation which should allow the first registrations at the beginning of next year.
In terms of propulsion, the models are qualified by Guy Nègre as “mono and bi energy”; in town it is the compressed air system that is used and on the road, an energy additive (petrol, diesel, vegetable oil, etc.) allows an extension of autonomy with a consumption of less than 2 liters per hundred kilometers. Charging with compressed air can be done either directly on a compressed air terminal (in less than three minutes), or via a compressor connected to the mains. Two models of the OneCATs should be available, in three and six places, for a maximum speed of 90 and 110 km / h and a range of 800 km. At the selling price level, the two models should be around 3 and 500 euros respectively. The vehicle emitting less than 5 grams of CO300 per kilometer (it is given for 60 grams in road mode), it is eligible for the bonus of 2 euros, remains to be seen how the tax services will react so that the purchaser does not find himself not beneficiary, by his act of purchase, of 30 euros.

The production method is also very original, the vehicles will be manufactured directly at dealerships via small factories with a capacity of 2 vehicles per hour. The first factory is under construction in Carros (Alpes Maritimes). Thereafter, twenty other manufacturing units are planned to cover the national territory.

After the OneCATs, MDI plans to market other more powerful compressed air models with performance close to that of conventional vehicles.

The concept developed by Guy Nègre goes far beyond French borders, the largest Indian car manufacturer, Tata Motors, has already signed an agreement with MDI to develop and market this technology under license in India.

It is very nice this "toto tata" by Guy Nègre ...

It remains to be seen what guarantee it can provide, parts, labor, what technical network will it use?

And I don't say that out of bad spirit, because at the base, this concept is very good for removing pollution in the city. It is also simple in its operation, therefore robust a priori.

Now, in terms of performance of the air initially compressed at the wheel, there would be a lot to say and points to clarify ...
