New car sales figures in France in 2011 by category (these are data quite difficult to find so I post it here)

I never thought that the Renault Clio was also sold compared to its competitors (I don't see that much ...).

The French buy all the same very national: Peugeot, Renault and Citroën very largely dominate the French market ... still it is necessary that these models are made in France !!

This same magazine indicates the location of manufacturing for the 250 models tested!

Some examples of "French" cars in the top 10:
Renault Twingo: made in Slovenia
Renault Clio: in France and Spain
Peugeot 107: in the Czech Republic
Peugeot 206+: in France (cocoricco!) (And for info, the Ion is made ... in Japan!)
Renault Mégane: in Spain
Peugeot 308: in France
Peugeot 3008: in France
Citroën C4: in France
Etc., etc...

Finally, PSA is much more "French" than Renault, yet the state still holds a significant share of Renault ... then the fine speeches of politicians on the made in France ... pouted pouted ...

Econologist expert (or I do not know what according to the indication under my nickname), I allow myself to emphasize two or three points:

- if we consider the absolute figures (not look at the variations, polluted by the end of the premiums), we see:

a) the shift from the park to small: C1 or Twingo, etc. rather than 206 in the past; 207 or Clio rather than the "averages" in the past; megan rather than Laguna ...

It is a good thing, emissions / pollution question ...

b) with the notable exception of the "fashion" of SUVs: "to look fat" or make believe that we have a 4 x 4 with just a bass drum! We can see the impact of advertising (see Quashqaï for example, or equivalent).

So there is still some way to go ...

Yes you are an "expert econologist" :)

How can you say a) without any element of comparison? The Clio and the 207 alone do more than all the "minis" ... the Clio almost does it alone!

I am surprised that there are as many 3008 sold because I see very few (yet it is noticeable!)

Mmmmm ..... What about the Yaris made in Valenciennes? There is no record of it. Isn't that a car? Ditto for Smart.

They are probably not in the top 10 of their category ...

Oh sorry it's the "top10" by category ... I thought it was implied ... and explicit in the intro of the scan ...

It is that in the 2 cases there were less than 5507 models sold ...

Last year, Toyota sold 23000 (twenty three thousand) Yaris in France.

What ranks it behind the 27000 of the Dacia Sandero, tenth of the "small".
Perhaps only a difference of appreciation on the category of the Yaris?

20 Minutes publishes a new classification (all categories combined) for the first quarter of 2012.

Ah weird then, maybe a story of variants? There is the Yaris "station wagon" which perhaps divides this gross figure "all versions" ??

Otherwise is it an oversight?

If the Yaris is in the "Minis" it should be third, but if it is in the "Small" (which seems likely to me since we also find the Polo), it is beyond the tenth place.
