And you can always check and recalculate this, to be sure that we are not telling you bad guys, going up to 200m in height, like me running or pedaling fast (essential for good health, to do every day!) , and arrived at the top, looking up, the sea at the foot of the mountains in the distance 40km away instead of being 200m above these mountains if the earth was flat !!
After a small simple trigo calculation, with the 200m and 40km approximately, distance from the point of tangent to the earth of a straight line starting from 200m high, allows you to calculate the radius and the circumference of the round earth, clearly at the first try eye, 200m high. !!
In addition, this intellectual exercise, after intense physical exercise, is very good for the brain, well supplied with blood after physical exercise !!
A glance is enough to verify that the earth is round, so !!
It is all the difference between Science and muddy and imaginary, unverifiable fantasies !!
We forget to teach this to our children !!
The Egyptians, from the top of their pyramids, knew it long before the Greeks !!
I like real HS, verifiable, understandable, constantly testable, instead of pure dream subjects, totally unverifiable, which fascinate some !!

This kind of reaction always made me laugh!
And to say that Erastostene had calculated the circumference of the earth in -245
Sorry for the HS
well Erastostene could present his calculation at the time.
The French military has not yet presented us with UFOs.

The soldiers in reality and concretely do not care.
Have we seen the Rafale equip itself with anti UFO missiles in case?
Have you ever seen an industrialist such as Dassult or EADS floor on a possibility of a nasty encounter which should be guarded against?
No.
What budget of the Ministry of Defense on the subject? Nothing.
May be the occupation of some part - time soldiers to make some reports that will go to sleep under the dust.

If UFOs, the military have a nice stock ...moinsdewatt wrote:The French military has not yet presented us with UFOs.
The saucers much less ...
What always struck me in the photos of the saucers of the time is their design, they are very retro ... very in their time ....
which is not really logical ... so fake or military equipment.

It is common knowledge that since Napoleon, France has always been a war behind!moinsdewatt wrote:What budget of the Ministry of Defense on the subject? Nothing.

Seriously, if there were really little bellicose green men capable of crossing at least 4 light years, the conflict would be asymmetrical and without too much hope for humanity!

Re: MHD {Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic}
There is also the ION ENGINE (but is it so different from the MHD?), 1st flight of a glider by the MIT a few days ago:

Re: MHD {Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic}
With the explanations it's a little less mysterious.
It is about electroaerodynamic propulsion of an airplane
It is about electroaerodynamic propulsion of an airplane
The experimental prototype, presented Wednesday in the journal Nature, is a kind of drone composed of a wing, supporting a wired propulsion device, coupled to a high voltage battery that produces ionic wind. The plane, whose wing has a wingspan of five meters, weighs 2,45 kilograms. He managed to travel up to 60 meters at a speed of 4,8 meters per second, during a series of test flights carried out indoors. https://www.futura-sciences.com/science ... -50000079/
We demonstrate here that a solid-state propulsion system can support a propelled flight by designing and piloting an aircraft heavier than air powered by electro-aerodynamics. We have flown a fixed-wing plane with a wingspan of five meters ten times and we have shown that it was flying at a constant level. All batteries and power systems, including an ultra-light high-voltage power converter (40 kilovolts), were taken on board. We show that the conventionally accepted limitations of thrust / power ratio and thrust density 4, 6, 7, which were previously thought to make electro-aerodynamics impracticable as a method of propelling an aircraft, are surmountable. We provide a proof of concept for the electroaerodynamic propulsion of aircraft, thus opening up possibilities for quieter, mechanically simpler aircraft and aerodynamic devices that do not emit combustion gases. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-018-0707-9
