I suppose that the version equipped with a Peugeot diesel was less greedy?

Indeed, but alas this already old change made in France was not widely disseminated because it almost doubled the price of the vehicle ... but we are talking about the study of a new version equipped with a Renault 1.5 DCi. ..which seems plausible because the Niva II did not convince at all to the point that the Russians shunned it because it was less reliable than the old one (a shame) ... For those who really need a real one 4x4 without rolling on gold it would be impeccable ... the richest will take a Land Rover defender, like a landscaping friend ...

A neighbor pausagiste also has a Defender (currently broken down, broken box). The defender is a good tractor, unlike the lighter and less mechanically strong Niva.

The Niva diesels assembled in France by the importer were quite surprising ... For example they used the "French" acceleration cables of their transverse motor assembly which proved to be too long because on the Niva, the accelerator pedal was 50cm from the injection pump (longitudinal engine) ... So the fitters made a loop in the cable ... In use, they got stuck quickly ...

For the record, due to the high demand for Lada diesels in France (Niva and Samara), the importer had sent a full train of diesel engines to Russia ... The train got lost ... : Shock:

Well otherwise, as a tractor, there is my Massey Ferguson called "small gray", it is not 4x4 but it pulls all the same. : Cheesy:

There was also a French fitter Perriquet who mounted them with Renault engines (r21 2.1D)
