EELV controversy on aviation and children's dreams (Mayor of Poitiers)

Transport and new transport: energy, pollution, engine innovations, concept car, hybrid vehicles, prototypes, pollution control, emission standards, tax. not individual transport modes: transport, organization, carsharing or carpooling. Transport without or with less oil.

The problem is not so much the co2 produced by aviation (less than 3% of CO2 emissions) but the huge logistics chain of mass tourism that it helps to fuel.

if we want to fly planes on hydrogen, the problem of mass tourism will quickly be resolved ...

Good evening,

Remundo wrote:[
on hydrogen in aviation, the whole question is to produce it, and that is not nothing unless we confine ourselves to a few demonstration devices.

I believe that the question of producing it is incidental, but on the other hand hydrogen is horribly light and it is the problem of the tanks (weight and volumes) which becomes a big obstacle (the engineers piss us off, isn't it? ?). Whether it is to burn it directly or via a fuel cell. Not to mention the infrastructure ....

Aside from the perverse tackle below the belt (we're used to it with you), engineers have nothing to do with the intrinsic properties of hydrogen.

It is not tomorrow in fact that we will see a substantial fleet powered by "green" hydrogen.
Hydrogen is just a pretext to green a sector singled out by the media ... the same ones that encourage people to go take selfies 8000km from their homes ....
In fact, it is more than doubtful (economically, technically and ecologically) to want to fly commercial planes on hydrogen. The rate of return on energy investment would be dismal, not to mention the feasibility on a large scale of the thing to short term (next 30 years).
With Peak oil all and the volatility of the financial markets, the priority if will probably be located elsewhere than to make fly in masses of the tourists around the world at a moderate price ... and then in any case they will not have the means any more! :)
The priority is rather in the development of railways and piggyback transport. However, all these measures do not seem to be of real interest to our leaders, because they are possible! : Lol:

No, I'm taking the chopper.
Ps: We were talking above about train and piggyback. No bus.

It's just exactly the same problem (bus vs individual car) as that of train vs truck.
By the way, do you take the train when you go (if I remember correctly?) In Germany with your in-laws?
