nag can be

The cars are not sold by weight but by comfort, power ... etc.
The more equipment there is, the more expensive it is ..........; the heavier it is.

Transferring, a heavy thing that we can do without entirely. When we manage to transfer the little things, like carpet or backboard, we gain queudale except a maximum of noise. In my R19 when I remove the rear board, the noise level increases painfully ..... :frown: : Mrgreen:

The noise makes you nervous and aggressive so you accelerate more brutally and therefore, you consume more. : Mrgreen:

Replace the steel rims with lighter aluminum rims (but you have to see the manufacturing eco-balance in between ...). You can also replace the metal engine cover with a fiberglass one. But it should not be given!

And if we take an inflation bomb to replace the spare tire, we no longer need the jack either! But it's tangent, it all depends on the type of puncture ...

:? + 1 with Flytox.
On my 106 electric company model, I don't have rear seats ...
I hardly miss them, you just need to get organized because our other vehicles have AR seats ...

However, I added carpet, interior trim and insulation to soundproof and thermally insulate the vehicle.

The sound pleasure has gained and I hope to have gained on thermal insulation.

I remind you that my electric car consumes petrol to heat the passenger compartment (Webasto boiler) ... : Arrowl:

You can also gain up to 100kg by buying a car "anti-stepmother", you know: those who only have two places before ... : Mrgreen:

power steering, it makes me laugh, on a small car, if you need power steering it's not a quality, it's just proof that the steering is dirty: I also have a GMC 11 tones 6 wheel, not assisted steering and it goes very well!

to come back to the original question: it is not only a few tips to lighten an exiting vehicle, but the design of a new vehicle

this new vehicle must have the correct solidity for the use we want to make of it! no need to resist a collision at 150kmh if the goal is to drive at 70km / h

the efforts which the chassis and the suspension have to withstand depend not only on the payload but also on the speed, the lower the speed the more it can be light for the same payload

double benefit: by choosing a low speed we light up the whole car and we are satisfied with a tiny engine

we often find the example of the 2cv, which is however very bad: very complicated suspension, heavier than a more conventional suspension: independent chassis heavier than a load-bearing body, low-power engine but not as light as it sounds

of course a slow and light vehicle will be very vulnerable in the event of a collision with a heavy and fast vehicle ... but anyway when you drive alongside trucks, solid or not you can get crushed

It is a heavy trend, the road network is more and more tarabiscoté, baffles, roundabouts ... Modern vehicles need to be more and more maneuverable and reactive ...
15 years ago I mounted a Peugeot GTI power steering on a Citroën Visa Diesel. The vehicle was transformed.
The number of turns of the steering wheel from stop to stop decreased from 4,25 turns to 2,5 turns ...
I took the rounds at 50 (without slowing down) without changing my hands on the steering wheel, just by turning it a little in one direction then in the other ...
The time saved for doing a niche was just as significant ...
No matter what, progress is good ...
And then today, a good direction is 100% electric and lighter than 20 years ago ...
