Barack Obama: The President of Sustainable Development

Transport and new transport: energy, pollution, engine innovations, concept car, hybrid vehicles, prototypes, pollution control, emission standards, tax. not individual transport modes: transport, organization, carsharing or carpooling. Transport without or with less oil.

Reduced per capita, it is less than in Germany.

A Chinese consumes much less coal-electricity than a German.

Effectively ! And it seems to me that the Germans are among the worst students in Europe when it comes to electric CO2!

The problem is scale: with its gigantism, China will soon be leading in all sectors. Whether it is CO2 emissions or renewable energies.

"More than 40% of the electricity production capacity of the USA operates at reduced speed during the night and it is during these hours that the batteries of 'pluggable' electric vehicles (PHEV) will be recharged. half of the US vehicle fleet in 2050, an increase of only 8% in electric generation (4% in installed capacity) would be sufficient "

Electric Power Research Institute, 2008 www.my.epri.com

Europe:

It only takes 80 TWh to fully electrify the German car fleet! (Study by scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute)

The wind potential of the Baltic alone is 2600 TWh...
Not to mention the North Sea, the European Atlantic coast, the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea etc.

Obama has just signed a "law" which aims to:

- ban in 2020 new cars that consume more than 15 L per 100km

How are the rich and Hollywood stars going to get around? Ferrari and Lamborghini will cry) : Mrgreen: but 2020 is far away ...

- reduce polluting emissions by 30% in 2016

Uh which ones?

Obama wrote:This 40% increase in the efficiency of our cars and trucks is expected to save 2 million barrels of oil every day, which is almost all of the oil we import from the Persian Gulf.

in the article, he spoke of the average consumption of American cars which should not exceed 35mpg, i.e. around 6.72 L / 100 which is very low for an American car

We don't have the same source, what article are you talking about?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/energy ... vironment/

6.72 L is clearly low: 50% of the EU fleet is more ...

note, the 2 pieces of information are not contradictory:
we can have an average consumption at 7L and a max at 15L

Uh yes but you can very well exceed 15 L / 100 with any small car ... just drive like a jerk !!

Finally I think that all this is based on "standards" ...

But since I think that the standards for establishing average consumption in the USA are not the same as in Europe, we will compare anything big ...

Anyway, these standards (at least in Europe) are "indicative" .... the reality is often +20 to +30% ... even if you are careful ...
