by Leo Maximus » 08/11/08, 18:02

A new version of the robotic walking assistance system
from Honda:

When I was no longer able to drive my S2000 I could still travel thanks to Honda. : Lol:

Is autonomy so important?

I have a friend who had clubfoot surgery when he was a kid. It has lots of stainless steel pins in the feet and ankles, it was in the 60s with the technique of the time. At first it was very good, it worked normally then it deteriorated little by little. Today he can only walk for a few minutes in a row and the surgeons he consulted in Paris, Rennes and elsewhere told him that it was inoperable the only solution being ... amputation (!) and fitting prostheses. He told me that there are currently thousands of people in France in the same case : Shock: . Fortunately, today we no longer operate in this way, there are several small successive operations, there are no more pins and it is evolving well 8) . He would be satisfied with a quarter of an hour autonomy.

But it is certain that the autonomy is not enough for a farm worker, the electric pruning shears have a autonomy of one day but with a battery that one carries in belt. The solution may be the hydrogen fuel cell, plus hydrogen is light :D .

From what I read, it is not made to serve as an orthosis, but it is an assistance for workers who perform repetitive painful movements ...
But hey, why not a development in this direction?

Always as "well" informed this enginenature ... (it would really be necessary to find a suitable nickname for this site). This proves once again that they do not get very tired looking for and checking information.

Honda's assistance system is clearly intended for the disabled, why? Quite simply because it was presented from its first version in salons for the disabled.

"engine-nature": avoid unless you have time to spare (AMHA) : Lol:

I leave you responsible for your comments on this site, but I did not find anything at first reading on the HONDA site which would tend to demonstrate that the information given on Motor Nature is false.

It seems to me a little "light" as an explanation ... A link? A reference ?

We often find interesting info there, don't mind ...

Not too much time for links, but here's one from Honda:

http://world.honda.com/news/2008/c08042 ... st-Device/

"walking for the elderly and other people with weakened leg muscles"

and another :

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m ... _n25341026

It is clearly indicated that it is intended for the handicapped people then the information given in motor is therefore erroneous, sorry.

On the page of the site you gave first, it says: "* This device is designed for people who are still capable of walking on their own."

If you look closely, this device is not at all the same as that presented in the HONDA press release of November 7 (the one that was taken up by Nature engine) ...

In fact what do you blame Motor Nature for? Not to have said that HONDA made ANOTHER model for the disabled? What interest in a site that talks about cars?

So ? Incoherent information ? 8)

I think you should rather be careful what you read ... : Cheesy:
