CO2 Auto Emissions: Theoretical and Real

by Energie450 » 22/12/11, 16:16

Since May 2006, the “Consumption and CO2 emission” label has been compulsory and must be affixed on each new private car or displayed near it, in all sales outlets in France.

The label has seven classes from A to G, of different colors (as for household appliances).
It allows any potential automobile buyer to be informed in a legible and comparative manner about the vehicle's CO2 emissions. CO2 or carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change.

The displayed CO2 emission value, in g / km, is that measured over the European regulatory cycle where the driving conditions are very different from the actual uses of the car. The actual CO2 emission is generally higher than the theoretical emission and can be calculated from the actual consumption in liters per 100 km, measured by the motorist (from full to full) or indicated by the on-board computer .
An example of a CO2 calculator is offered here: http://tigre450.chez.com/EmisCO2/form1CO2.php
