Entertainment for the physics and mechanics

Electricity, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Geometric Optics, Waves, Crystallography, The Sun ...

Here are some of the topics covered by this site that allows you to understand many things via dozens of animations, most of which are customizable:

http://www.sciences.univ-nantes.fr/phys ... index.html

I hope that it will remain onligne long! Congratulations to the creators of these animations.

I don't know what the previous link is worth.
but if some of the content is based on theory, or computer simulations,
We must expect a difference between theory (and simulation) and reality (on the ground).

Here is an example, a simulation of generating a sawtooth signal, and its theoretical harmonics produced.
Obviously, this simulation is virtual, does not exist in a real and very PHYSICAL environment!!
And so has only one NON-EXISTENT result, unreal!

https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/fou ... ?locale=fr

I remember this simulation very well, because even before discovering this link to this simulation,
I have reproduced this sawtooth signal in PRACTICE, in the real and very PHYSICAL world (the environment)
And the results are vastly different from those produced in the simulation.

So, in the Real and very PHYSICAL world (the environment):
the main signal only manifests itself with a delay, a BIG delay.
First the Subharmonics appear with a slight delay to manifest their intensities in the Middle.
Then the Higher Harmonics manifest.
Then ONLY the main signal appears in the Middle.

In other words, part of the simulation in IRREL...is wrong.

Other parts of the simulation are also false.

Here is a general link, go and take a look…

The University of Nîmes was the one that hosted Vincent Courtillot's lectures on a "climate-optimist" thesis on global warming.
