[End of Abundance] Electric Bike-Generator
[End of Abundance] Electric Bike-Generator
This is a project that I had in mind for a long time and this period of the end of abundance lends itself well to its realization.
So I bought myself a second-hand exercise bike at Emaüs for 10€, I took this one because it's compact and it's easy to attach a generator to it.
For the generator I used the wheel of an HS hoverboard that I also bought for 10€ on a flea market. A bit of hardware, a washing machine belt and you're done.
For the electronic part, for the moment I did very rustic, I made myself a three-phase rectifier with two diode bridges and a capacitor (optional), the DC output is directly connected to the battery.
The hoverboard motor is well suited for charging a 12V battery, with normal pedaling speed the output voltage is 17,5V at no load.
Under load, I generate around 50W when pedaling normally and 100W when going harder, it's not much.
In any case, it allows you to realize what 100W represents in terms of mechanical force, it's tiring!

not bad not bad
the transmission belt, blah blah you will have losses, you should put a bicycle chain with sprockets when you have time.
you will unfortunately also realize that the human machine is pitiful, even champions generate almost nothing.
Holding an effort of 100 W for 30 minutes is already exhausting for an untrained person, and only provides 50 Wh,
not to mention yield losses.
for example you put a Chinese sinus inverter, I would not be surprised if it consumes about a few tens of watts on its own, even when it does not provide power.
a champion could sustain 400 W over 1/2h, but will be completely flushed too.

Congratulations on an econological subject as I like them!!
You want me to make you one CFD flow simulation ? I'm hot there!

No insult, even if we know that 250 Wh is a max of the max?
Well, I take a second?

You are confusing watts with wh...

No, 250 Wh is what a man can produce, at the rate of 250W, in one hour.
And it's capital W, for the gentleman of the same name, not lowercase w.

PS, a few years ago, I wondered if we could "make the lighting" of a sports hall, depreciable, or not, in how long, by putting generators on the equipment... .

Re: [End of Abundance] Electric Bike-Generator
You're right…have you ever made such a montage? Petrus tells you that 100 W is already hard...
To make 250 W over an hour you must already be a good trained athlete…
At the Tour de France I think they are no more than 400W on average on a stage and they are monsters...
But you are right...
