Google it and you find this:

(sale at a hundred euros; for a theoretical value of 199 ...)
1) For me, the term "hedge trimmer" is a bit abusive. When I prune my hedges, which are mainly made up of deciduous trees (because there is life in there! And I use it to make BRF ...), there are branches the size of an inch ... I need a "hedge trimmer".
I use this: http://www.bricozor.com/taille-haies-el ... ing%20Flux)
I then pass this through a grinder and get BRF. I also pass branches when I "fold" these plants (up to 4 cm thick).
I use this (superb but expensive! Turbine = little noise; "eats" the branches on its own and produces nice, slightly torn "pads" ...)
http://www.bosch-garden.com/fr/fr/outil ... .jsp#tab_1
[this without ads; but I was positively surprised! I said it too, it's expensive!]
2) The device we are talking about here seems to me rather to be a "mower" with hedges or "neat" borders (like French gardens) with plants such as yew, thuja, boxwood ...
The advertising report speaks of mowing 5 or 6 times a year it seems to me ...
Me, I call it "shaving" or "mowing", not pruning ...
Hence 500 W ...
With the exception of boxwood, these plants are not good for BRF or compost ...
I therefore think that we should first ask ourselves the question of the intended use: pruning live hedges or "careful maintenance" of "charming" borders / hedges (in the sense of a charming hotel or castle) ...
[note that my hedge trimmer can also do a neat job! but you have to pick up the scraps ... But I don't like "nature" to attention ... There, it's a matter of taste]
A size not like other hedges
chatelot16 wrote:not to speak in a vacuum, which has a link to a seller of this device, to see the price and power
note, this device with a propeller that rotates quickly will consume almost its nominal power even when it does not cut anything, to make wind
whereas a conventional hedge trimmer consumes a power much lower than its nominal power ... the power of the engine being used only to pass the largest branch
Well, we are talking in a vacuum without knowing the product !!!
This device costs $ 99 cdn therefore 73 euros and consumes only 300 watts, the Pro model consumes 500 watts and costs 169 euros!

And a B&D hedge trimmer that consumes 450 watts and costs 60 euros:

It's a shame that we jump to conclusions so quickly without checking anything!

Chatelot is right to say that the nominal power depends on the load on the engine. It is a maximum which is displayed on the motor plates.
On a hedge trimmer like mine, when empty, there is the friction of the two blades, to which is added punctual efforts when I pass on branches ... The whole does not exceed 450 W (of memory).
On the Gardengroom, the fan may consume more just to "stir the air".
But indeed, it would be necessary to have both and a wattmeter to have certainties.
For me, the bottom line remains that it is not the same function; When we only waste a few hundred W of our hedge trimmers, we will ask ourselves the question of powers ...

I would still add the unfavorable a priori of teleshopping.
My mother-in-law was a follower and returned with I do not know how many objects that worked a little, often less well than "seen on TV" to end up with a broken and untraceable part.
But I did say "a priori"! This may be the exception (even if 50% of balance, that questions) ...

Hi Did!
No fan, it is the rotary knife which evacuates the cutting residues.
They have chosen to sell by Téléshopping like many others and this is not a pledge of "useless gadget" and just like the classic hedge trimmer it consumes less empty!
For power we argue about nothing because the usage time is reduced compared to the classic since a straight cut is much easier to obtain.
I understand that this product is new in Europe but it is well established here and works well!
See you!

the classic 450w has a 50cm blade: it costs everything that exceeds 50cm wide in a single pass! including small branch
the propeller models will have to rotate much longer to do the same job ... or not even get there without removing the shears
I see the same comparison between a propeller lawn mower and an alternative blade motor mower: the motor mower is satisfied with a lower power to cut wider, and cuts any tall grass without increasing the power

The classic hedge trimmer is suitable for large annual pruning. The rotary blade model is suitable for finishing and regular maintenance.

Hi Chatelot1
Have you tried this Garden Groom?
I assume not!
I'm not trying to be right but only put things back in place on the "what will we say"!
I made the same observation as on my subject "The benefits of an additive", we denigrate the product without even having tried it!
See you!

There is still a method problem!
a) someone has "tried" something or a contraption and reports on the forum. Well.
b) when we haven't tried, we just have to say "amen" then ??? We are bordering on sect or religion, right ??? Can't we express a doubt? a questioning on the principle, or on a use ???
c) why then put the information online? Just to advertise?
In short, few forums would still have a life, in my opinion, if every time when someone had tried, the others just crashed!
[the idea of the hedge trimmer adapted to the size, and the gardengroom adapted to "mowing", I mentioned it before cuicui: "For me, the bottom line remains that it is not the same function" - " I therefore think that we should first ask ourselves the question of the intended use: pruning live hedges or "careful maintenance" of "charming" borders / hedges (in the sense of a charming hotel or castle) ... "; but apparently if it's me saying, it's wrong; when it's cuicui, it's good; let's move on ... Old resentments?]
