I have aphids, ants and (damn) scale insects with shell (at least because there may be other things ) on sin in my greenhouse:
Does anyone have an idea for a biological solution to get rid of mealybugs? I don't know if ants raise them like aphids...it's possible because when you crush them there is also a kind of fatty juice...
I found this old thread but nothing worked: gardening/are-fed-up-with-cochineals-which-sustainable-solution-t11194.html and the techniques may have evolved since 2011? Because at the time, only mechanical elimination worked with mealybugs but you have to do it all the time...no thank you!
I had hoped that I was rid of it because I did a severe pruning this winter...
Aphids are eaten by ladybirds, but mealybugs? By what ? Ah apparently ladybugs would also work against mealybugs? https://www.gammvert.fr/conseils/consei ... ochenilles
The predators
Ladybugs are great predators, especially mealybugs. Their advantage is that all stages of the cochineal are targeted. The species used: Chilocorus renipustulatus, Chilocorus nigritus (against scale insects with shield and shell), Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, Exochomus quadripustulatus (against pulvinary scale insects), Rodolia cardinalis (against Australian scale insect), Lindorus Lophantae (against mealybugs, with shield, with shell) ...
Lacewings feed on many small, soft-bodied insects.
The rove beetles: living in the ground, Dalotia coriaria feeds on many invertebrates found there, and therefore on some species of scale insects which attack the roots.
Thrips, in particular Franklinothrips vespiformis: usually feeding on other thrips, it can consume other pests such as mealybugs.

Re: Biological fight against mealybugs, aphids and ants from my peach tree which go well together at 3!! Help !
Well it's been a week since I left the door of the greenhouse open and still no ladybugs in sight... so it's decided I'm going buy some ladybug larvae...
As it is "alive" does anyone have any advice on where to buy it?

the best fight is done by birds of all kinds, but the greenhouses are artifices which prevent them from doing their "job" of cleaning and regulating what are called pests, while they participate in the biological balance, them!

Ah yes there the birds can not come becter! For sure !
Well, I found ladybug larvae... at Jardiland, it wasn't what was planned, 50 larvae at €13, but an educational kit at €20 with maybe 25 larvae, I don't know...
We call to make sure they have the product, we get there and they sell us something else and everyone thinks it's normal... the France of Macron's vaccinees what...
In short, I put half directly in the greenhouse and the other in the "growth" box...
In photos: the (severe) invasion of scale insects, ants, black aphids and green aphids on mint next to it....
I put 2 popcorns directly on the plants because it is very difficult to take the larvae or to change their support, they make 1/2 turns if you force them! There they are 3-4 mm.
I checked if the ants were attacking the larvae, apparently not.

Re: Biological fight against mealybugs, aphids and ants from my peach tree which go well together at 3!! Help !
I did this Friday afternoon...
This morning the 2 popcorns have disappeared (probably the ants or a rodent…) there was one left yesterday…like the green aphids on the branch where I put the popcorn: all disappeared…so it's already starting to work ..it looks like…
On some other branches the concentration seems less to me… than 2 days ago…

Here are other photos, 2 of mint with green aphids (Friday was much more "green" with aphids):
And some larvae have grown well in 48 hours at 20°C, it even seems that some have already pupated?

I believe that on the last image in the round pot these are in fact moults... some larvae are more evolved than others a priori it's L2 and L3?
Otherwise I moved one of my old insect hotels from the garden directly into the greenhouse:

I think I saw a larva at the L4 stage this morning (yellow dot on the abdomen)...it's going fast!
