In a series of tests, a 7,2 kWh prototype could be recharged to 80% in just 72 seconds, 98% in 120 seconds and 100% in 2,5 minutes at a maximum power of 900 A/360kW. Compared to conventional chemical batteries, whose lifespan varies between 3 and 000 charge/discharge cycles, the eTechnology can easily withstand more than 5 cycles without obvious degradation of its capacities. Morand specifying that the oldest test unit is now approaching 000 cycles.
Interesting but supercapacitors still cost an arm and a leg...if you want something other than a few tens of Wh...so on paper it's good but what about the cost?

Well, that's for an average battery now at 50 kWh, 5-6 times more time, than 72 S, and that's fine, but in practice, when we stop, and you know it, I think, stopping for less than 15-20 minutes, the time to pee, drink a coffee, possibly eat, is difficult.
Unless you have a lot of people who have to do 800 km on one trip, it's probably too fast.
Too fast for the power needed, for many, no, more to see the longevity, than the charging speed... Except for people not used to driving an EV...

You don't feel like you're exaggerating a bit here? 6 times 72 seconds, that's less than 8 minutes, you recharge to 80% in less than 8 minutes?
That Grandpa and Grandma Phil aren't in too much of a hurry when they go on long trips to France in Kona, I can understand that and it doesn't bother me at all. But when you have a long journey to make with 2 or 3 brats in the back, or obligations to arrive at a certain time, it's not quite the same story.

If you have 50 kWh of battery, to reach 80%, it's at the max at 40 kWh, right?

I charge rounding up to 80 kW, when the battery is low, and from 70%, it decreases.
From 20 to 70%, that's 50% of 64 kWh put back, or 32, plus the losses, let's say less than 40 kWh to put back.
20 minutes of 80 kWh is almost 25 kWh off.

I don't know much about it, but obviously someone who would be able to offer and guarantee an almost infinite number of cycles with respect to the average life of a vehicle (about 20 years in Europe between the marketing and scrapping) would have some advantages even if it costs a little more initially.
So wait and see... Lots of announcements without follow-up anyway.

I forgot, before driving in an EV, a long time ago, I had a thermal space, model 1, first, then a model 2, V6 engine, equipped with LPG, and roughly speaking, at the time , I left Lens, in the pas de calais, towards Spain, in the north, of Spain, 1200km.
At the time, 3 children of mine, plus one from the "DASS", 4 children, so, if not a kid from the DASS, it was another...
But, I only drove at night, and from 22 p.m. to 6-7 a.m. in the morning, well, it's sleeping ....
And we were always almost "coming soon".

To situate, an EV, currently, can support 400 km, depending on its starting battery.
The Teslas, which are currently coming out, we are on a trend of 800 km.
To situate also, my ion from the end of 2012, therefore 10 years old, has between 120 and 130 km with, it, originally, 000 kWh of battery.
To locate also, that released at the end of 2013, was in 14.5 kWh of battery, and you find, models of 2013-2014, with more than 120 000 km.
A little less autonomy, certainly, compared to the origin.
When they are 20 years old, if it gets that far, they will probably have the equivalent of 7-9 kWh of capacity...

AND this is what happens with a Tesla3, less than 12 hours, with charging times, for an exceptional journey...
