New low-cost, large-scale Smart-Grid storage from cryopreservation of air

Innovations, ideas or patents for sustainable development. Decrease in energy consumption, reduction of pollution, improvement of yields or processes ... Myths or reality about inventions of the past or the future: the inventions of Tesla, Newman, Perendev, Galey, Bearden, cold fusion ...

Mast technology developed over 15 years
This announcement follows the completion of a first 350 kW pilot project in 2014 and a 5 MW demonstration installation, inaugurated in the city of Bury last year, thanks to funding from the agency of the British innovation (Innovate UK).

Having proven the feasibility and the technical capacities of this emerging technology, based on research carried out since 2005 at the University of Leeds, the company Highview Power is now moving up a gear with the creation of an installation (commercially oriented this times) of 50 MW / 250 MWh.

Soon installed in the north of England, on the site of an old thermal power station, it will support the electric grid. The storage device will be able to supply between 50 and 250 MWh over a release period of 5 hours, according to the developer, and will be "the largest project in Europe capable of storing energy in the long term".

like what a demonstrator helps to prove what we say ... : Mrgreen:

2 + 2 = 4 no need for a demonstrator

There are people that nothing stifles .... Apart of course from the "lie" of "Europe's largest" electricity "storage project", but maybe there is a translation erroneous, to speak of a system which one seems to understand that it stores at most 250MWh while speaking of "long-term" storage is absolutely ridiculous!

well it's 250000 kwh, the lithium equivalent at 200 euros = 50 million euros.

This is of course wrong.
Energy storage by water at Granmaison is more important.

is Grammaison storage a more important project?

This is not a project, but a STEP which has been operating for around 30 years, with a power of around 1800MW and an annual production of around 1400GWh.
So just a little bit more important .......

Yeah, but it's STEP by STEP we're moving forward.

since large house storage is not a project but a reality, the cryogenic storage project would be the most important long-term storage project.

it's not on futura that we could see that
