Hello André,
And if it was a carburettor engine, ignition cut off the gasoline again, and without water overheating causes self-ignition.
And an accelerated idle at 2000 rpm (doped with water?) It makes noise which can be interpreted as "accelerated to the bottom" by a non-expert ...?

With a broken contact, the auto-ignition makes a bad chaotic idle at best, and just a few seconds.
In my Gillier Pantone, the antifreeze test added to the water did not change the music / diet etc ... one way or another. On the other hand a renniflar of oil of a motor (superheated and in agony?) Balances a max of oil which can maintain the revs engine of a diesel .... some seconds.
