Tronxy X5SA-500 PRO review. Z axis improvement, how to glue a toothed belt?
Re: Tronxy X5SA-500 PRO review. Z axis improvement, how to glue a toothed belt?
I do not have a period photo (there were no cellphones!), But on this website, the fifth photo at the top and on the right corresponds to what I saw. For balancing, it's just a question of weights ...

Yes a question of lead obviously but on condition of being in the possible ranges ... Ok I can see better, it's a big wick what ... it's less potatoïd than I thought
When you spoke of potato, it struck me ...

... not really a big wick, but rather a plaster. The photos correspond to current techniques, those I witnessed were more rudimentary, although respecting the same principles ....

Yes, we agree! The wick fills a "round" hole ... I was talking about the final look inside the tire.
Yes plaster is the word used on the site.

Re: Tronxy X5SA-500 PRO review. Z axis improvement, how to glue a toothed belt?
Coming back to the Tronxy, here is my first printed part, it's pretty good ... for such a large fdm printer ...
For my projects, I also have 2 small LCD resin printers: the mars elegoo and the LD-002R from Creality I would tell you about it in another topic!
The principle is to send UV (405 nm) via an LCD screen to form the layers. The resin is photosensitive, heats up and polymerizes under this radiation (gloves and masks compulsory for any manipulation so I don't even want to know if it is dangerous for health ...
).
Be careful, there is 405 nm in the sun's rays (and not just a little!) ...
The resin impression gives a quality that is "perfect" ... no layers are visible to the naked eye ... but the parts are generally more fragile than in fdm ...
And the prices have largely fallen, notice to amateurs ... the Mars Elegoo is less than 240 € and the Créality less than 300 € (and I would say that it is slightly lower than the Mars ...) and the resins are 35 € per kg ... We are far from 2000 € machine and 180 € per kg of resin only 2 or 3 years ago ...

The basic idea was wrong: I am now certain that there is differential correction of the 2 Z motors, at times one engine corrects more than the other ... I had to observe a lot of impression to realize it!
Pairing them is not a good idea! Mea Culpa!

Christophe wrote:Small remark that I just noticed on the operation: the Z axis "moves" permanently, that is to say on the same layer it goes back and forth according to the position of the print head, I did not live it noticed without this coupling belt as these are very small movements. The belt moves a few mm.
This is normal, you must have a closed loop Numerical Control. It constantly corrects the difference between the position reference and the actual position it reads. The more play there is in the transmission (reversal of direction of movement, reduction, etc.) the more it can bagoder from one position to another. On some NCs this can be configured (it is a kind of hysteresis).
For the splicing of the belt, one can try by gluing (Neoprene Dissolution) a piece of air chamber in the form of a strap on the back of the belt.

If possible in your assembly, you can use a belt assembly clamp instead: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4695652
