Ideally, it would even be necessary to have several air intakes depending on the operating phases of the VMC.

I placed my fresh air intake under the roof overhang on the north side so as not to suck in air overheated by the sun in summer.
But in winter, I could see an air intake on the south side to "preheat" by solar gain ...
