Facing stones: an interessant mode of insulation?

by maxdub » 15/12/12, 12:22

Hello,

I plan to install a plate of facing stones at home, for the walls on the outside of my facade (for the interior it is not yet for now :D )

I wonder if the facing stones can provide additional insulation. Do you know??

Here is the type of stones that I plan to lay:

No, it is not an insulating material.
It’s just decoration.

+1 it does nothing ... except thermal inertia on the wall ... (a little) and possibly solar energy storage depending on their color and exposure ...

And possibly trouble: "take-off" by differential expansion ... hot / cold ...

By cons it can give a lot of character (and thermal inertia at the same time) during a renovation in insulation from the inside ...

Let's face it: these things smell like knock at 20 meters : Evil: especially in 10 years when they start to leave.

By cons, for a row house, take advantage (if possible) of a facade renewal by placing a half brick facade with a vacuum and insulation, that's good, but much more expensive.
