Hello,
I plan to make thermal reflectors to place behind my radiators (with water) to avoid heating the wall in the background and I have come to choose a base of depron panel + survival blanket stuck on it to perfect the reflection.
Any opinions or comments?
Thermal reflector behind radiator
Put the radiators on the partition walls, so that they heat the two rooms on either side of the partitions, without losing in the exterior walls.
Otherwise it is almost an illusion to believe that one does not heat the wall with a reflector of the radiation behind, because more than half is of the thermal conduction and thermal convection of the air, what makes that the wall heats of anyway like without reflector by taking slightly more time. The reflector does not change anything in thermal conduction.
It is necessary to insulate the entire wall itself with thick insulation, as for the whole house and reduce the thermal capacity of the wall secondarily.

Good remarks, any time I am not ready to launch out in a complete renovation, I thus seek rather to "optimize" the existing one! All my radiators are now placed under windows because the house is built "in the old way", but it is clear that the radiators would be better placed on the partitions rather than on the external walls ... I will keep your note in memory for the day of the big renovation, and if the windows are very cold and bring a feeling of cold we will bring out grandmother's big curtains :-)
