Useful summary for airtightness

1) - Stapled rain and vapor barrier without specific sealing
- treat the connections with suitable adhesive tapes and careful bonding
to adjacent structures

2) - Links between frames and frame of external openings (doors and
Windows)
- filling the space with acrylic sealant, joining the two
structures with suitable adhesive tapes

3) - Sliding window rails
- avoid sliding windows

4) - Wall connections - window sills
- flatten the support surface, prefer a double joint
5) - Connections between glazing beads and structure of the opening of certain joinery
- inform the manufacturers having this defect to allow them to bring it
correction.
6) - Seals between glazing and glazing beads
- use double or triple lip seals

7) - Dormant opening connections of remote control skylights
- avoid remote controls, the pressure transmitted often being
inadequate

8) - Water discharge from the bottom sleepers
- make sure to position them outside the seal on the sash

9) - Mullioned windows
- to be treated as a frame-frame link (see point 2)

10) - Wall - window frame connections on log construction
- expansion joint on the frame before fitting the frame or bottom joint
of frame

11) - Through locks
- favor non-through locks with watertight handle on the internal side

12) - Roller shutter boxes
- take care of the installation (see point 1)
13) - Operation by chain or strap of roller shutters
- to avoid ; maneuver by crank, or electric

14) - Recessed roller shutter reels
- to avoid ; no embedding in hollow frames
- Absence of seals on frames of landing doors, cellar doors,
garage or storeroom
- do not install a jointless opening on a frame

15) - Door thresholds
- favor mobile thresholds, leaving access for the disabled

16) - Connection between exterior walls and slab (in masonry or wood)
- treat the connection with sticky tape or flexible joint before screed; if
plaster finish
floating on the slab; be sure to dust before
collage.

17) - Masonry - frame connection
- seal with steam brake by gluing and suitable adhesive tapes

18) - Connection between roof sections
- seal the rain screens between them, return the steam brakes to
ridge cap

19) - Connection between roof boxes
- seal rain screens between them

20) - Floor crossing by masonry chimney
- plaster the edge, or install a chimney on the front, or not
put a chimney (not very compatible with low consumption)

21) - Technical ducts and access doors
- seal between floors and install a seal on the door frame

22) - Wall and air network connection
- seal between sleeve and duct, preferably carry out the
distribution in hot space

23) - Pipe sheath
- seal the gap with acrylic sealant on a cold network, see product
suitable for hot network

24) - Bulkhead connection - exposed beams
- peripheral adhesive tape between beam and partition

25) - Cracks in through beams
- clogging with wood pulp; use non-core woods

26) - Intermittent use fireplace
-check the presence and tightness of a valve

27) - Cold air flow through the electrical ducts
- install the switchboard in a hot space

28) - Electrical distribution network with one end in cold space
- seal at one end (preferably at the outlet of the switchboard) or
the ducts having the terminal end in cold space, by plug of
acrylic sealant

29) - Telephone and TV network
- seal the ducts with an acrylic sealant cap

30) - Junction boxes in cold space
- avoid placing the junction boxes in cold space, or use
waterproof housings and carefully seal the box sheath connection

31) - Openwork recessed electrical boxes
- prefer solid cases to be drilled or those with rubber membranes

32) - Extractor hood
- install a recycle kitchen hood

33) - Garbage chute to cold space
- departure and arrival of the garbage chute in cold space

34) - Lowering dirty laundry to cold space
- arrival in hot space, or equipment to avoid

35) - Central vacuum with central unit in cold space

This should be qualified, for a French window with 2 leaves an electric motor is ideally placed to open / close the roller shutter and it is less tiring than a manual system in this specific case.

How is it that a person from Portugal is so interested in insulation?
For me, a little Belgian, Portugal is quite a "hot" country
:D No ?

Using the same approach, electrical repair + VMC Double Flux installation + attic insulation carried out this summer, I would like to take this opportunity to make a few comments.

I made the distribution in lost roofs then covered the whole with 35cm of cellulose wadding. I took care of the airtightness of the ceiling crossings with putty, as well as the airtightness of the entire ventilation system.

Except for the care to be taken in airtightness of the air passages in partitions, the material (PVC) of the centralized suction network does not favor thermal bridges. The suction network is, in principle PERFECTLY sealed, otherwise suction would be non-existent. I therefore see no incompatibility between this equipment and a passive construction. :?

There I remain on the basic sealing (type of connection, singular points), I do not dwell on the complement provided by the insulation, nor on the thermal strategies.

A horror of complexity of care for the average French pros and therefore inevitable errors and perpetual trials, given already the number of huge errors, with no sealing requested, by the usual pros in France, formerly !!
In addition I doubt the possibility of maintaining sufficient tightness.

In my opinion, we must look for other simple methods, without manic sealing.
