From memory I never saw this counter function working (never exceeded 1, I will see to fire it), on the other hand there is a popup which appears with each new private message.

So remember to allow popups on the forum (don't worry, there has never been, there is not and there will be no ad popup) .. and you will not miss your MP anymore ... you can also have an email notification.

On your profile, if not done, check yes to:

Notify me of new Private Messages: Yes No

Opening of a Pop-Up for new Private Messages:
Certain themes may open a new window to inform you of the arrival of new private messages Yes No
