Photo reportage: steps of outdoor insulation of a house

by the middle » 14/07/11, 08:33

Hello,
Well, as promised, here is a little summary of the insulation of my "hut" (ex hut) : Cheesy:
The choice of material was chosen for lack of means, and I also said to myself that if the Poles insulate all their buildings in this way, it must be good.
First, think about installing the new windows! (Polish, because much cheaper)
After, it will be too late.
First stage:
Glue the plates with a suitable adhesive cement.
(it's time to rectify the walls that have moved)
Image
Be careful, there may be errors, or omissions in my explanations, because I did not have time to follow everything ...
But basically, it's good.
Glue the metal floor protectors, which prevent the mice from entering the insulation.
Image
Drill holes in the insulation and holes, to put the dowels that hold the plates even more.
Put the pegs.
Image
Level the plates using a sort of grater:
Image
Plug the holes in the wall plugs, frame the windows, install the metal protections on the wall corners.
Image
Image
Install the sheets that replace the window stones (yes, sheets), see finished house photo.
Ceiling the wall, and at the same time stick a perforated plastic lattice which strengthens the assembly.
Image
Install the roof sheets
Put the top coat mixed with a pigment.
Very hard work, because it is necessary to rub this layer very quickly and very hard.
Image
Cutting the plates:
Image
Explanations are probably missing, but hey.
This work generates a lot of waste, polystyrene
who flies, following the cutting, and the equalization of the plates.

Great report! Don't you have a little bigger photos?

How much did it cost you all inclusive per m² isolated?
Comparison compared to a local Belgian craftsman?

OK, thanks,
For the photos, I will try.
Small detail of importance: they used a foam to seal the holes, and prevent air from circulating.
This foam is not like the other sold in supermarkets, because it swells less, and it is important, otherwise the plates move!
Price per square meter: 53 euros
Transport, labor, materials, all included.
So 2x cheaper, not three, I think.

Ok for the photos, it would be a little better (edit the message).

The download system resizes them to 640 pixels wide, so you don't have to do it yourself.

For the price given the plaster finish, it is 2 to 3 times cheaper than if made by a local (live loads !!) ... It is the magic of Europe.

So much the better for those like you who know how to take advantage of it!

Fortunately, my wife is Polish, and has contacts in her country.
But it is especially the price of the materials which is incredible.

Yeah incredible but how much are the charges, taxes and fees in Poland? Because all this is directly reflected in the public price ...

Would you like nothing but VAT for example?

How much does a Polish man earn per net hour? I'm sure it's not as far away as a Belgian worker!

ps: hey did you have to house them, the poles? : Idea: : Cheesy:

The direct result:
Less outside noise : Shock: (maybe the change of windows)
Feeling hot all day. (My wife confirms)
To see in winter.

What no how? :)

If you didn't want to comment, don't make a subject!
We are curious! : Mrgreen:

Completely normal for noise. I think it's actually more due to the chassis.

What do you have as insulation on the roof?

I think you can go on 40-50% savings after no winter is exactly the same so ...

ps: I do not understand, you said that it was your "ex barraque"? Do you continue to live there or not?

Nice work, informative photos, almost 4 times cheaper than in France !!
And probably a better job !!
52 € / m2, without windows ??
What if we don't speak Polish? How do we do ???
I have the impression that importers are increasing prices.
Speaking Polish, your wife can set up a profitable import export and isolation business !!
The materials are Polish or Chinese ??

Otherwise, since Poland is much cooler than France, the quality of insulation must be better ??
We must take advantage of it, because the Poles will join us for complicated standards, prices, charges and wages.

Otherwise, in the photos, we guess that the new windows have not been completely carried out to the outside before installation, leaving a portion of old wall (concrete block?) Outside with a residual thermal bridge, as much as we can guess ???

yes, without the windows, but we took advantage of the transport of the insulation, to buy the windows too. (terribly cheaper)
What if we don't speak Polish? How do we do ???

Hard hard...
I have the impression that importers are increasing prices.

Exactly...
Speaking Polish, your wife can set up a profitable import export and isolation business !!

Too tired, we chose to live
The materials are Polish or Chinese ??

Polish, but I discovered one thing, the entrepreneur lacked bomb foam that he had brought from Poland, he asked me to buy 4 to finish the house.
Result, I found the same bombs, with a different label (Belgian), a much higher price, and a much smaller weight!

Otherwise, since Poland is much cooler than France, the quality of insulation must be better ??

I suppose, but in any case, cheaper (in Belgium, we tend to add an expensive second brick wall, or an additional, more solid coating.
We must take advantage of it, because the Poles will join us for complicated standards, prices, charges and wages.

In any case, if I had not had this opportunity, I would never have been able to insulate my house.
Otherwise, in the photos, we guess that the new windows have not been completely carried out to the outside before installation, leaving a portion of old wall (concrete block?) Outside with a residual thermal bridge, as much as we can guess ???

+1, the interior contour is not isolated, just made clean, therefore thermal bridge.
ps: I do not understand, you said that it was your "ex barraque"? Do you continue to live there or not?

I wanted to say that before, it was a shack, and that now, it has become a house! :D
