Ah! Good note Did67 ...
Heavy and fissile radioelements such as plutonium or uranium originate from the stars, then spread to the right and left.
Indeed, not all may have come from the sun ...
Nuclear power is very nice on CO2 and short-term energy independence ...
BUT there is a Peak Uranium similar to the one we know about petroleum today, in 100 or 200 years depending on the success of the techniques of breeder and energy consumption levels. Furthermore, the very inhomogeneous location of ores will generate the same geopolitical tensions linked to energy as that of oil.
In addition, nuclear technologies are very troublesome:
- management of uncontrolled waste in the medium to long term
- arms race: dirty bomb for terrorists, nuclear warheads, hydrogen bomb (do you know fusion and current hyperprojects? Z-Machine, ITER, Megajoule ...)
