Thermal insulation of a door

by sebarmageddon » 06/12/11, 15:53

Hello ,

what do you think would be the possibilities to isolate a door like this a bit?

Image

the insulation and what hides the insulation should not be too thick and not heavy

personally, I would have thought to fill the hollow of the door with an insulation in a kind of polystyrene, then put some paneling to hide all that

this door is in an uninsulated corridor between the garage and the house, at night there is humidity on it, the bitches sleep in this corridor

please

If the door is made of wood, it is already not too bad in terms of insulation, strange that it condenses on wood ...

It leads to the garage, right?

Can you take some pictures? With garage / service doors, there is often as much to gain by hunting for leaks as by insulating ...

See the example of mine: https://www.econologie.com/isoler-une-po ... -4031.html

How much
bitches sleep in this hallway

the water vapor from their breathing will condense on the coldest point.
The wall of the hollow of the door must be very thin, 1 to 2 mm ??
A few mm or cm of insulation on the door will remove the condensation that will go to another thermal bridge.
This is calculated if we know the exact conditions.
Or change the door, thicker.

here is the photo
Image

the door visible at the back is the door for which I request information
this door at the back, is between the corridor and the street, moreover, thanks to the photo, I noticed with the shiny areas that the door was still full of condensation, I was checked by passing my hand over it, result, wet hand

on the left we see a recess, it is the door between the house and the corridor,
on the right, we see a door handle, it is the door between the corridor and the garage
there is a radiator which is in fact of the door whose handle is visible on the right

Ok so this is a door to the outside.

Would you be able to change it outright?

It may be cheaper than tinkering with it and more effective ...

Otherwise the solution of extruded polystyrene clad in paneling seems to me to be the best ... but DIY costs more and more ...

it's a wooden door,
the hollow area of the door, taking the thickness between the outside and the inside, must be 2cm I think, the door being 4cm thick

for the idea of insulation + paneling, it would surely cost a lot less than buying a door for more than 200 € ...

This is not an answer to the question:
The wall of the hollow of the door must be very thin, 1 to 2 mm ??
in what, plastic or wood ????

It could also be a lack of ventilation, this condensation can be removed by creating ventilation above the door.

Not sure that this increases the heating bill, humid air is hard to heat.

Repaint the door.
